View Full Version : Who and why?

Forums are an interesting place, most of us chat, discuss, fight, have cloth ears and some won't even consider listening at all. But not a lot of us actually ever get to meet and see the real person.

I've been fortunate to meet up with a few of the guys from here in a "gig " situation and it's been a great experience. So that got me thinking. From what you know about your fellow DJ's on this forum, regardless as to whether you have actually ever met them, if you could pick three fellow DJ's from the forum to go and help out at a gig, who would they be and why.

My starter for ten:

1. Crazy K - would just love to experience the passion and excitement that he has!
2. DMX Will - If only to get an idea how to programme DMX lighting, but also to relive the enthusiasm I had when I was his age
3. Dragonfly - because I think we are trying to achieve similar things and I am keen to see just how he's doing it.

Err...no, and yes fine.

Not taking your own thread off topic I hope Rice, especially as you moan at others for doing so! :p

Depends on how far off thread you go, but just realised why you might be a little more on edge than usual - I went through hell about 4 years ago (pathces all the way for me).

So to nicely bring us back on track, who would your three be and why?

Matt, I'm cut to the quick :(

1) Crazy K (same reason as above)
2) RiceSnaps (We have a lot to talk about)
3) Corabar Steve (I need to see an Indie/Punk/Garage night done right)

Crazy - K would be great to see him in action
Darren - View him as a true professional and would love to get some tips on improvement.
Jamie - To see one of those rigs and not have to go to blackpool for the illuminations.
Tony - to see those special shiny balls
Rice - because face to face as he has said I believe that we would be on the same wavelength
Rob - Just so I could talk about toilets all night and not be told off by the wife.

Dave that's 5

Darren & Ian - Consummate professionals (even if they do both use active Mackies)

DMX Will - for the reasons given in above posts & coz he's a member of the Class D fan club.

I would find it hard to choose. I discovered a long time ago in this business that you never stop learning and you can learn something from everyone (even if it is how NOT to do something!)

Hey, credit were credit's due. I may not always agree with you on matters of music but I'll bow to your knowledge in the area of Indie/Punk/Garage (the rock variety) without hesitation. :beer1:

Whilst very true, Theo, I'm sure there are some people hereabouts whose strong points or peculiar abilities would educate you in any shortcomings you recognise in your own knowledge/ability. ('Shortcomings' not meant in a derogatory way at all, by the way.)

Difficult to name three in particular, but I wouldn't mind meeting up for a chat with Daz (for reasons already mentioned), Tony from A1 (he uses the same PA as me :)) and Shaun (to say thanks for help on a number of occasions).

Darren - Just to check the try tidyness of those cables.
Jamie Whitehouse - A very professional approach to discos for some one quite young.
Ricesnaps - Very very good at what he does, we would find a lot to talk about i reckon.

Thanks for the votes of confidence, but I really don't rate myself, just seem to be able to provide what's wanted, that's all. I guess Tony B and Quinny are your best critiques (and Maybe Alan too!)

So who else?

best way to be Rice imo there is a view of djs that they are ego fuelled fly by nights with primadonna tendancies , when people find out that you are not any of the above they are usually pleasently suprised and when effort goes into making hem happy and care shown towards what they are after imo only a good result will follow.

Tough one here....really hard to nail it down to 3...as you are all good at what you do.....:)

My three -

1) Theo Loyla - Guy must be doing something right for going this long.

2) Crazy K - Line calling like to see that, never seen it...

3) DJ Elite - As someone else said....for doing favours, also seeing how the guys north work as well as tasting some nice malt. (it would be on me)

As I said can't really pin point 3.

Dragonfly was on that list but I've got a chance of that - also Rob was on that list but I think if I meet him giging nothing would get done as there would be to much joking going on....:D

Very difficult to narrow it down to only three.

In no particular order:

1. Jamie. His light-show images are always inspiring, his show looks a real class-act.

2. Dragonfly. His humour always cheers me up. I imagine his fun personality comes through just as much in his shows.

3. Mayhem. I admire anyone that has the energy and drive to specialise in kids shows. I imagine his shows are a lot of fun to watch
