Oh yeah. I hit the customer with a random price off the top of my head and take them for every penny they have. :bang:

What a stupid question is that you asking ? If we all did that then we wouldnt make much of a fair and honest living out of it :mad:

Not sure what methods you use but i work mine out around the customer. How long they want me for, how far i have to travel, etc etc. Always make sure my rate is fair and competetive with the market. Certainly isnt a random decision.

Jake pm sent but ive done a fair bit of homework in the area and the norm is £140 - £160 but there are plenty way outside that one lady the other day just up the road from us was quoted £350 for 3 hours another £110 by a hotel for the resident.

my structure is function, timings, venue primarily and yes i have to say if i get a call and im out say wed, thur, sat, sun then someone is going to have to make it very worth my while to do Friday as well.

I like to keep things simple, so for all discos of up to 5 hours in my home county with an evening set up, it's £250 for the basic disco for 30-70 people & £300 for the large one for 70-150+ people.

Simple!

I don't like the idea of having to ask the client about 10 questions before I can give them a quote. It also means I can show the prices on my website, which is helpful to prospective clients.....but everyone has different ideas on this subject.

my local pub pays £140 max per disco this is discounted for lots of bookings but the guy normally go's out for £180 locally then he adds fuel costs for the distance for private bookings

I Now charge £200 locally for the smallest disco / roadshow this covers an area of 10 miles then I add a £1 per return mile extra to the price

In general weddings start from £250

My larger disco show goes out for £350 +

It is all about believing how much you are worth? £50 per hour or £25 per hour or £100 per hour? If you know what I mean. If you can sell yourself well you'll get the good money if not you won't a good show helps rather than a 2 box set up?

You may decide to lower your prices for diferent days in the week ie fridays and sundays. There is no perfect formula. The key is just listen to what the customers are looking to payout helps ask them as to stop them fishing

knowing the venue and the access is a help if you have to carry your gear miles or even worse upstairs i usually add £20 to my normal price for inconvenience :)

Hi,

I charge £30 per hour before midnight and then £45 per hour after.

I, have only just started out too April 07, and was also unsure of what to charge but this seems to be woeking out ok.

I suppose that New years eve, boxing day will be more like £45 to £60 per hour. I suppose you have to ask yourself how much you really want to do these dates and how much they really want a disco.
