Installed this in March on to my Laptop as a backup plus external hard drive.

I only use it every now and then and for back up gigs where im using Cortex---not every week.

Ran it last week before going to gig---fine.

Today tested it and the Logo had gone from my screen--

Phoned PCDJ people who said oh look in your PCDJ folder for the .exe file.

Not there:eek:

Had to reinstall using the original disk

I dont normally take that to a gig--I will now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone any ideas why this would happen--PCDJ say the computer cleans up
every now and then automatically---but theres logos on there I have NEVER used and they are still there.

This Laptop has NEVER been on the Internet.

THANKS

Wow

Did you try a system restore (although to be honest I doubt it would help, and it doesn't solve the problem as to why it happened in the first place)

I didnt cos I dont know how to do that :(

Can you confirm how that works possibly?

As it happens reinstall seems to have worked fine--just a bit worrying that the icon disappeared off the home screen:eek:

Have restarted couple of times since reinstall and its fine--

Wont be leaving home without the install disk again :D

thanks

System Restore should be in your Start Menu under Programs->Accessories->System Tools

.. but as I said, this sounds like a very mysterious case!

Under CFG-Automation
Play around in there, i would not say it is a good program for beat matching though, best of doing that yourself on your mixer and use the Dac controller pitch/tempo etc

Laptop Dj ing is good fun--is the Cortex going to be your back up Dave?

Mind you the flat screen has just gone on my brand new TV set

Perhaps ill stick to the Cortex --dont fancy that happening on a gig:eek:

really dont know crazy to be honest .... if i can find my way round all the little nooks and crannies of pcdj and the laptop is stable and doesnt crash seems daft when it is probably better than the cortex .......????

but then the cortex is tried trusted and i know my way round it and how to get what i want from it very quickly.

the autofade and beat mix interest me as this part of my djing skills are probably my weakest and auto fade on the cortex is usually carried out in the middle of a song lol.

im sure pcdj could give me a lot more scope for experimentation and being "smoother" at what i do if i can suss it out.

Thats what I did.

I understand your point Dave about mixing.

I run the separate sides on the Cortex to different inputs on the mixer so I can bring in each side separately--I think Spin does that as well.

But I can see the advantage of smooth fading with the software.

I only do half the evening on Disco and tend to do a lot of talking over music so its not so important for me---

yep i run both sides of the cortex of two separate channels on the mixer also ... just accepting the fact that my fading mixing etc is rather frilly pantaloonies in my opinion and maybe pcdj could help improve this to be smoother and more ear friendly.

never been shown how to beat mix or the best way to fade in fade out etc so the only way i know is my own way which im sure could be improved.
