I hate these day's...no gig...don't get me wrong I enjoy my life at home but when you don't have a 'gig'...life is a bit slow....so to speak.
So do you still get the 'bug' when giging?
Or is it another day at the office?
Me because just starting out I look forward to the build up, the execution and the delivery.....
Is it the same for you?

I'm 51 now and I still get the butterflys before a gig and really go cold turkey when no works about but with me it;s not only the gig it's the buzz with the gear!
I get as much of a buzz out of setting up a system as I do using it, and the bigger the system the more the buzz!
I gotta be honist I don't know how my wife puts up with all the stuff I have it's totally taken over the house to the point we have a very large amp rack in the bedroom, astralite in the bathroom, and all sorts of kit everywhere else
she never moans even though she's falling over it everywhere!

I enjoy taking a night off occasionally, but do find myself thinking about what I would be doing if I was working.

I do that anyway - if I take a night off, the others will still be working. ;)

to be honest when you don't have the bug anymore and don't look forward to the challenge that the evening might bring with it it's time to call it a day......
every job i've had i have given up when it no longer becomes fun and challenging, life is far too short to be stuck doing something that you dread.

Its a bit like when i used to be at school couldnt wait to get off on holiday then when off wanting to go back lol , im like yes a night off then it drags in and its boring so i tend to work as much nights as i can , I'd rather work than sit down the park when its rainning with a bottle of tonic. Still get the butterflys before a gig but when there setting up its great im like a kid at christmas taking the lights out the box lol.

I have had the bug all afternoon....but not in a good way. I didn't think I was nervous/worried about this 60s orientated wedding....although I've felt physically ill all afternoon!! Great!

Both for me i enjoy the work and i like the money :)
I think once you lose the bug its time to hang your headphones up as it is pretty noticable that you are not enthusiastic in your work. I know a few DJ's like this and they do nothing for the repoutation of the rest of us who are loving it :)

Yup - still love the buzz I get when I've a full dancefloor in front of me and get equally annoyed when said dancefloor empties because it's time to go home and I've a load of tracks in the waiting list that didn't get played.
I actually stood on Friday evening and looked at my rig and thought "a new light there..." etc - so I've got the bug too.
Work has been quiet as of late which has suited me as I've been getting myself 'sorted' physically and mentally (long story....) but I've had a good handful come in over the past 2 weeks to see me into Autumn nicely, ready for my Christmas bookings which are in the bag with deposits paid.
