I felt like Corobar Steve last night!!!

Hi guys,

Last night's gig was a multiple party for a joint 18th birthday, 21st birthday, 60th birthday & 30th wedding anniversary.

It was in a marquee in the garden of a nice house, so even though the ground LOOKED pretty flat, I had the usual piles of business cards under my stands to keep everything level!

The clients had pre-requested all the music for the evening, although I was able to choose the order, which was fine.

I felt just like Corobar Steve, as the requests included Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who, Yes, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Peter Gabriel, Kinks, Jimi Hendrix & Jethro Tull.

I have to say it made a nice change playing something different to the wedding fodder I usually play week in & week out.

It was a really good night, and the second week in a row I've been asked to do an extra hour. I was happy to oblige...and didn't even charge extra - even though she offered! :eek:

Maybe I'll buy a Harley, grow my hair & get a leather jacket with studs on next!!!

I also felt like Steve last night ....... my 21st no one asked for anything so I was trying a bit of everything until ..............."can you play some motown .......... or ..............modern dance" of course the 2 are quite similar????

thats because apparently so many of the countrys less fortunate were on day release from the home last night :D :D :D ....... stilll .............

for them it was a night out ............... for the care staff it was a night off :D :D

It's good to do different stuff now and again. That's why I like specialising in what I do and then covering everything else too. What I mean is that my specialist Indie nights (Shakermaker) are on twice a month in different venues on a friday and that means that the other 2 fridays and 4 saturdays I am doing the usual wedding/birthday stuff. Even after all the years of doing my Indie stuff I still look forward to playing the stuff I like myself and I still get the buzz from it when I have done a few of the 'normal' type functions in between.

I did a function last night...It was a surprise 30th birthday for my wife. We had 100 people coevring all ages who were in on the secret and she loved it totally. I played everything last night from DJ Casper to Rage against the machine (once the kids and some of the parents had disappeared!) and it was an awesome night. Plenty of beer consumed too.

Cheers mate. To be honest, I have been struggling of late. I caught a virus the other week and then it got mega busy and I am now having trouble sleeping too. I am giving some herbal sleeping tablets a go but have only been on them for 3 days so far and they aint working as yet.
