Star cloth

Thinking it's time for my self made blue LED star booth to go - starting to look a little tatty.

Love the starcloth look, so it's going to be a star cloth deck stand I think - nice and subtle. I do hear though that the quality and material used varies considerably from manufacturer to manufacturer. So what's the best one to get (I'd love a genuine DJ Booth start thing, but way to expensive).

Prolight cloth on a prolight stand. Fits either the 4' or 6' stand. Wraps around on the 4'. Doesn't on the 6'.

Nice effect. My only criticism is the LEDs are arranged in 4 horizontal bands that chase on a 16-pattern sequence (S-L). I had hoped the LEDs were dotted around the cloth "at random".

Still - it gets nice comments and I don't have to look at it :p

Mine are at random..... My box also seems to have DMX control which it stated it didn't....not that I DMX it!

But what quality are the cloths. Had heard the cheaper ones were a shiny nasty material - that true?

True, but the S&H are a lot heavier and you still need to set up something behind it too.

S&H Star cloth is very heavy duty and fire retardant but, as Darren says, you need something behind it (normally its frame).

If you look at them in bright light they can look a little naff - although once in a normal situation (not bright lights) they look ace. As I said, have a look at the pics, it looked exactly as it does in the photos.

The only problem with the prolight/zoom ones, is they don't come up high enough to cover any console you've got, assuming you don't have it on the lowest setting and are bending down all night.

Someone needs to make one that fits on the ultimax cloth bar that you can buy. That would be ideal!

I agree.

I have a small peice of wood through the top of my cloth,(invisble as it doesn't pop out the ends) which then sits either end of the stand, hence getting a nice straight slightly higher cloth.

You could very easily have your christmas lights (be it on the roof or on the tree) DMX'd. Very easily indeed.

The reason my star cloth isn't DMX'd is because I'd have to reprogram everything with it built it....when 90% of the time I want it solid on!

You could just get a S&H cloth & hang it from your existing board.

I think S&H is your only option (other than to refurb your board) as the prolight & zoom ones are quite short & as I recall your board hides all your kit & is a bit taller than the cheaper starcloths.

You can get bigger cloths than the deck skirt type ones from Prolight.

Good question. Been meaning to do something with it for a while. Basically it weighs a ton and isn't quite as flexible as it needs to be now.

I was thinking I could buy a large one to hang from the arch - surely I could tweek it so I get the curve at the top?

Yeah they can be tweaked, Ive seen one hung from a type of arch

Ok...... I have the prolight deck skirt starcloth. The thing i dont like about it is.

The straps fall off very easily for one. and sometimes i get a problem where not the full cloth lights up. But still i fix it everytime

The prolight cloth aint bad tbh. But its not the best. I would personally invest a little more and get the S+H cloth (I know I am)

You get what you pay for (Quality is Priceless)
