Are you after one amp to power both? Or one that you can get two of? Is the £300 per amp, or for both?

Have a look around for a good deal on a QSC RMX 2450. Used to have one of these running my Bose system, very nice amps.

Behringer EP2500, same amp as QSC RMX 2450 but with a slightly smaller power supply and cheaper!.

I run one of mine hard @ 4ohms per channel for my bass cabs with no issues in two years. Also run an EP1500 4ohm bridged for my subs, again no issues in over two years, week in week out.

Really can't fault them. Iv'e used Crown, Amcron, C-Audio, MC2 and most other top quality amps in the past with touring companies so have a good idea of what good amps perform like.
I'm not for one second suggesting that Behringer are anything like these top amps but for what they cost you really can't go wrong. IMHO :)

Cheapest price new is from Thomann and that was £426 - slightly over budget.

I am running a C-Mark 2450, same spec as suggested, and am delighted with it. Apparently there is a bad batch of these about, which all lose left channel.
The replacement is the Alto Mac 2.4. In my opinion, a phone call to Class D would be value for money.

I`m currently trying out a couple of DAP Audio amps as the importers are based just down the road from me..They were fans of my Bose 802 as well!

They`ll run a couple of cabs or all 16 of mine no probs and I have to say they are pretty nice sounding amps.

However,
I have heard alot of very good feedback on the behringer amps and tempted to buy a couple near pay day, seems like good value for money...link below...

and far superior components in the qsc.

and far superior components in the qsc.

No question the QSC is definitely a better quality amp than the Behringer and they have to get that £200 difference from somewhere don't they?

That said they have the same output stage, toshiba & fairchild transistors and the same PCB's. The other components may not be qute as good as the QSC but they have not used crap components like a lot of other budget amps.
The main saving has been on the power supply as this is the most expensive part of the amp. They have still produced a very reliable, solid & powerful amp.

At the time I bought mine cost was a real issue, babies and new house etc.
I got 3 x EP2500's & 1 x EP1500 for £750.00 incl P&P. I am delighted with them.
They have been run hard for over two years now without a single problem.

Those that use them, myself included really rate them..............I bet I get one let me down this weekend! :D :D

I think you'll find the two will seperate themselves when they're stretched (ie. the QSC won't cave, a la Duracell bunnies :D)

I do stretch mine, running 4kW of Sub & Bass so maybe it's just a matter of time. I keep one as a back-up so have options & money is not quite so tight now so will soon be getting one of these: http://www.thomann.de/gb/crown_xti_4000.htm or if I can run to it 2 of these: http://www.thomann.de/gb/crown_xti_2000.htm.

Only problen is I'm really happy with what Im using and get a perverse pleasure from getting such a good sound from budget amps! :D :D

If it works it works! Chances are you could try the QSC and it would fail first night (I think the odds for that to happen would be incredible though!)

I'd steer clear of the DAP audio stuff, not great Chinese specials! As for the 802/302s, assuming you've got the bose controller with them, you can run them off one amp - QSC RMX series are a solid choice. Apparently the Behringer stuff isn't too bad, I've only heard one Behringer amp, but it was powering Wharfdale (yikes) cabs, so to be fair probably wasn't the best reflection of its abilities!

Have a look for a couple of peavey cs800's on ebay, you can pick these up really cheap and there almost indestructable but they are heavy! but perfect for the 802's at 400 watts per channel

And if you look on other forums including Crown's own you'll see they are incredibly crap.

Lots of issues with the XTI range, I would personally stay well clear.

I found the same with switch mode amps, they may be light but the quality of sound just ain't the same, I've been using a couple of QSC PLX amps and the bass was wolly and dull, changed back to transformered amp's today and the quality has improved so much, so won't be using them again!
