Sun Java consol on my pc

Does anyone know if the Sun Java consol, is needed on your PC. I seem to have this pop up every so often asking me if I want to update the software. When I try to shut it down, it doesnt give me the option like most programmes. It just dissapears from my task bar.

Was going to delete it from my programmes, but dont know if it will affect any other programmes I am using.

Does anyone know about this please

Some programs you have installed might rely on it. Also some webpages you visit.

Always a good idea to keep it up-to-date, along with everything else.
