VJ question

So what is officially the best VJ software or mixing package available at present?? I remeber the old Kaliedascope Kaliedavision (Spelling).

No idea what the best is as I've never used stand alone players, so couldn't really comment. I've been having a play with the visuals and video on Virtual DJ and for the money I think it's very good.

No idea RE: mixing package.

However for visuals R4 is one of the best and is used in clubs etc.

On our rig we have a physical desk with real monitors etc, so i would be unable to comment on software.

I now say "we" as before, it was more "our video guy", although we've joined forces somwhat more recently. The purchase of an £80,000 LED wall is on the possible list.

I agree with Darren,

For the money you cant go wrong with Virtual DJ.... IT provides videos, visualisations, karaoke, slideshows and pretty much any audio as well....

There really is no need to spend thousands on dedicated Video players and screens and vision mixers. Not for disco use anyway... May be if you were doing high end corporate work such as conference stuff and other things then yes.. but even if you're doing £1000+ weddings you wouldn't need any more than something simple like VDJ.

If you've got to worry about visuals as well as DJing, I would have thought your performance wouldn't be very good as you'll be worrying about too many things when you should be concentrating on the music, and playing what the crowd want.

Which is why we have a visuals tech for such discos that require the visuals.

And I must say it is relaxing leaving video in the hands of a person whos purpose of the night is soley to provide video. And he's very good. :D

I don't know i find it a good challenge juggling music, video, lighting and guests all at the same time... never a dull moment in the night :D

And it doesn't really affect the performance either as with most songs being around 3mins that's plenty of time to juggle everything and still keep your performance up to scratch.

I am unable to offer a un-biased opinion about which is the best VJ software as I have only ever used OtsDJ Video module which I find excellent for my purpose.
