Turn the volume down

Hi guys how many times have you heard the saying "turn your volume down its to loud".I had this last night from the hotel manager and not the guests.he was getting hastle from residents that were staying in the rooms above the function hall.How silly is that having hotel rooms above a function room.
Have any of you had this happen before?.

Only once at a 70th birthday when one of the "senior" guests said I was making her hearing aid whistle. I asked if it was whistling in tune to the music but she gave me a blank look.

Yeah, working at a VERY expensive Hotel around Swindon and this happened.

Bear in mind im not a Disco---im a Barn Dance Caller but I do use Disco sound equipment.

I spose its all the shouting down the mike at the audience that causes the real problem:D

I took the ....out of the duty manager and said---are they jealous they havent been invited to this event do you reckon?

Fortunately it was the last dance--so no problem.

I don't often get asked to turn it down, and when I DO it's not usually by the venue, but by an old person who obviously doesn't like discos!

Sometimes if have a lot of bass, 4 bins, I get asked to turn it down, I just cut back the bass, but in general even though I take out a lot of power the sound is never harsh or in your face.

Because it is controled power it never sounds too loud ..............well not unless I want it to sound that way! :D

Bass in normally the big problem though.

You are dead right about the old git sitting next to the speaker. I had someone say could you turn all your lights off. They are too bright!!

Er, well dont sit directly in front of them and why bother coming to a disco. What did you expect? No lights??

Pretty rare I get asked to change volume only happens a couple of times a year normally. Had a similar one at a venue with hotel rooms next door recently and ony because they opened the fire door next to me so sound went out. And the obligitory one from an elderly person sitting 2 foot from a speaker stack.

you always get the unfortunate people that turn up last and get the table right by the speaker.

Was getting "the look" off them on fridays gig.

So gave them the "well turn up on time look then" :D
