RAC route finder or Streetmap===who needs sat Nav?

I was travelling home Eastwards down the M6 the other night from a Tamworth gig and got to my connection with the A14==but it was totally closed off.

At the roundabout there was a "diversion" which said go back on the M6 the way you came---doh! I know it would then say get on M1 south and take me about 30 miles off route--:eek: :eek: :eek:

The highways guys idea of diversions has to be seen to be believed because they cater for huge lorries so dont take you the quickest alternative route.

Got out the torch and my roadmap and using my brain and country back lanes soon rejoined the A14 further on.

I wonder what sat nav would have said?????????????:eek: :eek: :eek:

Just purchased our 2nd sat nav - first one was really meant to be the wife's - Tom Tom One. So far seems great.

I can't find my way to the shops without one!

AA route finder had me driving around in circles in Hammersmith trying to find the Hostel we'd booked.

Some punter wanted a route from Nottingham to Exeter avoiding the M5.

Route given included a ferry from Holyhead to Belfast, another from Dublin to France, and another from France to Guernesy, then Guernsey to Plymouth :eek:
