Clients that 'get it'

I had a trip to visit potential clients a few nights ago, we met up at their venue and spent around an hour and a half chatting.

I have to say, it was a joy to meet with people that finally get what a DJ does. The 'bride to be' stated that the meeting was so important to them as (and I quote) "the entertainment is one of the most important aspects of their day. People won't remember the flowers or cake...but they'll remember if they had a good time on the night." It sounded so like the comments us DJs regularly make, it's nice to see that some people do "get it". It really was a pleasant change to meet a couple who's first question wasn't price, and who valued how important the evenings entertainment is to the success of their wedding.

I'm looking forward to their event.

80% of my clients dont even want to MEET me beforehand, and with the ones who DO want me to visit them, I'm always in & out inside 30 minutes!

I was kinda amazed when I realised how long I'd been chatting to them. There both really friendly and easy going, time just flew. The 'chat' also included a tour of the venue (mansion) they'd hired for their wedding.

I'd say 40 mins to an hours is fairly standard with my client visits - more if it's a venue visit too. That said, it's very unusual for the client to "get" what we do. Nice one Shaun! Enjoy the gig - I have a predominantly "funky house" wedding this weekend, can't wait - I LOVE playing that stuff!
