Ok i sense i will be sent to coventry by a lot of the DMX savvy folk here but can i ask a question....

I have looked at my lights and i cannot find a switch to dip, now i have the controller thingy that came with the dynamo's (i have 4 of) and yet i dunno where i should be looking for a switch.

Alternativley is this where i need to go out and buy a DMX standalone controller and find switches there?

sorry for sounding thick....but DMX is a new science to me

Hi lewnic dip switches are found on the underside of dynamos where the mains switches and dmx cables all go in. It is a bank of very small switches in a cluster of 10.

this is how to set them up i just posted same in another thread.
kind of a dmx 101 for acme products. If you have any probelms p.m me and ill talk you through it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dip switches are as follows for setting up of 6 heads on the acme system.
Gets out acme manual......
Each dip switch indicates a number in a hexidecimal range
switch 1 = 1
switch 2 = 2
switch 3 = 4
switch 4 = 8
switch 5 = 16
switch 6 = 32
switch 7 = 64
switch 8 = 128
switch 9 = 256
switch 10 = invert to master setting

So to make 3 for example you would flip switch 1 + 2
to make 17 you would flip switches 1 + 5

As each dmx effect has a certain amonut of channels we have to give each fixture enough channels to work will. An Acme dynamo uses 4 channels I beleave so first fitting would be switch 1 next would be 1 + 3 to make number 5

So the settings for a 6 head pack would be as follows

unit 1 = switch 1 only = 1
unit 2 = switch 1+5 = 5
unit 3 = switch 1+4 = 9
unit 4 = switch 1+3+4 = 13
unit 5 = switch 1+5 = 17
unit 6 = switch 1+3+5 = 21

thats all you need to do hope it help.

If you want to make a head do the oposite to the master (ie the one in position 1 ) simple switch dip switch number 10 on any unit you want to be oposite.
