as some of you know i have 4 irocks 5s hid and 2 irocks 5b hid a 100mw duel green laser and a 1500w strobe
i am thinking about getting a few more things
another green laser
2 moonflower effects ( maybe acme falcons )
2 mirror balls
4 colour changers
also looking at another carlsbro sub and 4 rcf 310a speakers

along the top of the 4 meter truss i was going to have 2 of the colour changers on each end then the 2 lasers either end and the strobe in the middle
along the bottom of the truss i would put ir5s then ir5b then moonflower then other ir5s then same on the other side
the mirror balls would be put on poles at each end of the truss sticking out and the colour changers pointing on to them

thing is does anyone think this will look good or will it be to much
and how would you position the lighting

According to the thread, you will end up with 17 lighting effects in total.

Do I think it will be too much?

Just a little!!!

Agreed, you'd need a lot more than 4m of truss to make that lot look neat!

I personally don't like the look of a row of lights on the top, and then a row on the bottom of a truss.. just looks a bit messy and "big", plus it restricts how high you can get the truss. With a low ceiling you may end up with lights blocking you.

I find a lot of buildings with low ceilings about 7 - 7/12 foot is average for most of my venue's (always take a tape measure to pre gig checks it pays for itself) This means I am unable in most venue's to put lights up high on truss you may find the same problem.

if you already have irock scans and barrells id get ishow flowers as the gobos/colours will match, same with the colour changer, id go for ir4c's

thank you all for the advice i i might not bother with the colour changers just try and maybe have the ir5s shining onto the mirror balls from time to time
just a thought that if i had colour changers then when i get to the slow music at a gig i could turn all the other lights off and just have them on thus allowing irocks bulbs to cool down
or i was thinking about maybe another of the hid range sort of flower effect i know the falcons come in hid then i could use i in the center of the truss
or would it be better going for two 250 halogen flowers

I see very few problems bar ceiling height as normal maybe a 7 colour laser would give you something special but the rest is very normal now.

Would not expect all lighting too be on at anyone time so sounds a great light presentation

But in general its always about the music and sound, not the lighting???

as it stands this is my current lighting

please note i rarley use all of it at once

4 x dynamos
2 x acme falcons (awesome effect for the money)
2 x abstract moonrays
4 x acme ibeat strobes
1 x showtec blizzard

would recomend the dynamos and falcons to anyone who asked as in my opinion they are excellent effects.

With regard to what to put on your truss in various locations i have to say that is entirely dependent on venue. if you have a high ceiling( and they are paying you enough) use as much as you like otherwise you will have to tailor it to suit :)

if you want one hid effect in the centre why not try a hid kaleido ?
