Question for other mackie users

Hi , as some of you may know I use a pair of mackie c300z's the passive version of the srm450's . My question is how many people in a room would you consider them able to play to without comprimising on any part of the signal i.e bass treble midrange etc. This is without any other form of reinforcment like subs etc.
Because all rooms are different i thought best way to give a fair guess would be first a room suitable for the amount of people you choose and with a medium ceiling height of about 9 foot.

Anyone who owns either srm 450s or c300z please post your opinions and experiences in differing venue's on this topic. Oh and please assume c300z's are powered by amplifier well suited to them: say rms input of speakers rated program power.

hate to say it mate but you just posted a question that nobody can accurately answer. and i am not a mackie user i use martin ;)

i don't think there is a person limit as i posted in a previous thread it is dependent on the venue and the circumstances not the number of people.

let me give you this as an example you may get a booking for 400 people which you think you dont have enough power for but when you turn up you find its 400 OAP's who want ballroom dances so you have far too much power for what is required.

Alternatively you may go to an 18th birthday party where there are 60 people who all want hard house / trance and complain you are not loud enough (as they are brain dead or tone deaf) so you cant win.

There are not set limits and i very much doubt anyone can quantify x amount of people = x amount of speaker power accurately and i have to say anyone who does is lying :)

The question is directed at peoples experieces with these speakers rather than people to guess at what they can do. For example if they regularly play for 120 people in a medium venue no carpet and medium height ceiling with no problems then it would be helpful . Or if they played at a large hall and they were wofully inadiquate.
Assume we are talking average wedding music i.e large mix of everything.

On their own at a guess i would say about 150 anything above i would use the RCF ART 705as Active sub to give the system more bottom end.

Hi Matthew, it is a bit of an open ended question but I use SRM450's with 1 SWA1501 bin. I have played in big halls to 300+ people (albeit as a singer on my own). It does have a massive difference on the room furnishings as well, i.e. a big sports hall will be massively different from a function room decked out with curtains & carpets etc...

I think with the room size you mentioned you should be fine playing to around 200-250 easily. Also remember, it's louder at the front, so if people complain it's not loud enough, invite them to come nearer (obviously not TOO near). They could always stick their head in my bass bin to get their ears bleeding!!!

Ok so maybe need to swap my peavey st15's for some decent subs. Ok assume low budget and can anyone suggest some good subs to go with them? Dont want to lug huge ones around if I can avoid it but please feel free to suggest some. Have been looking at peavey subs at £120 each any other good bins?

Thats what I use--bit bulky to get in a smaller vehicle?

Can you get away with using 12 inch ones, I played through a Yamaha System last year with small subs--sounded reasonable or just buy ONE of the more expensive powerful ones?

im running c300z's and they will comfortably go up to rooms of about 300 people, but could really do with a subwoofer. thinking of changing em for peavey pro12 and prosub combo

What gigs do you do with the gamma? Just to give me an idea of their capacity.
