Big up for James H

Huge thank you to James H for last night - was on my way to Sutton Coldfield for a big Army wedding, when the van started coughing and spluttering and losing power. Gave James a ring as I was just passing Redditch, and he jumped staight in his van and set out on a potential rescue mission. As it happened van kept going, and I managed to limp to the venue, rang James on way to let him know, but he still decided he'd come along to make sure I was ok!
Reasonable night (typical Sunday) Disco and karaoke (manned by James),typical Army shouty crowd, bit Chavvy, only really sprang into life when the Rock came on! Bride came into the room twice, once for the first dance, and secondly about 3 songs from the end for Nelly & Kelly - Dilemma (their song!) - it seems to me that when the guests see the B&G aren't bothering to dance, they take this as some kind of lead, and do the same. Previous 2 nights, full B&G involvement(including a great dance routine to Barry White- you're the first the last my everything) really sparked the nights.

Glad you made it to the venue & the gig went ok.

I have to say that I disagree with the above statement though. Many's the time I've had a packed dance floor, but the bride & groom are nowhere to be seen.

Also, at my wedding last Saturday, there were occasions where the only people on the dance floor were the bride & groom and a couple of others...and the bride & groom were really getting into it & having a whale of a time!

It doesn't really matter if you agree or disagree, it was just an observation. I can also quote sporadic examples of where the opposite has happened, but IMHO this appears to be the case in general.:bang:

Well done to both of you, it is this kind of attitude that is required within the trade, to raise the profile of mobile discos :thumbs_up:

Not once have I cancelled a booking, sometimes under difficult circumstances, and it seems everyone on here has the same attitude :)

Soundtracker, I'm not sure if I've missed something, but Rob was only giving an opinion on a point you put forward, which is the point of forums. If you didn't want comments or observations of others' experience, you could have locked the thread as a moderator?

& I would have re-opened it. There was no need for it to be locked, nothing has got out of hand. All I see is lively (if a little heated) banter.

We don't go around locking threads willy nilly here, unlike some forums I could mention.

No problem Pete - If it would have been the other way around i know you and others would have done just the same :) - was lucky i was up really :D After getting back from London at around 9.30am and having been up and working since around 11am the previous day i spent most of Sunday in bed.... Think i'd only been in the land of living again for around 30mins when you called... No to mention the run around the house trying to find a shirt and something suitable for a wedding :rolleyes: Think i was just about passable but think i might have to buy a pair of backup black trousers :D

Suppose it was 50/50 really....

The RAC/AA would have been able to turn up and possibly get the van running again but wouldn't have a clue to run a disco/karaoke ;)

I on the other hand know nothing about vans and the inner workings a but did have a van full of kit ready to go just incase....

Suppose it's another 1 up for networking/forums really and being on friendly terms with other Dj's in the area and surrounding areas :D :p :D
