We seem to have quite a few foodies on here so what's you best dish?

Can be simple or complex - no need to go into the smallest detail, just basic's....what do you do, food wise to impress...??

Simple snack -
Cheese beano's (beans on toast with grated cheese on top - slapped under the grill to brown) or Tin of Heinz big soup with a tin of beans mixed.....polish off with 1/2 a loaf or baggette of bread......quick and easy!!

To impress -
Devils on horseback - Prunes wrapped in bacon with a hot sauce...nice for picking at...

Leon salad - lettuce (not iceburg), lardons fried (dont throw the fat away), fried bread (with the fat) chopped into cubes, place lettuce, lardons and fried bread in bowl, toss with vinegarette, onto a plate, topped with poached egg - split this to dribble down........not very good for you but really nice!!
This can either be a snack starter or main....

Followed by drunken grapes - White grapes soaked in Brandy (it must be good Brandy) over night, Double cream - whipped nice and thick, leave to set in fridge over night, sprinkle with brown sugar, burn using blow touch (Callum - ask your parents first....:D ) of grill to caramilise sugar......

These are just a couple - could put more but these are the ones that keep time in the kitchen down to the minimum....

What are you favorite foods...??

Quick one for you - Bruschetta

You''ll need:

French bread sliced longways
Milano salami
Plum vine tomatoes
Mozzarella
Basil leaf
Garlic
Black pepper
Olive oil

Toast the bread lightly on both sides, then rub liberally with the garlic.

Put a few slices of salami, cheese and tomato on each piece of bread and top with freshly ground black pepper and a drizzle of olive oil and basil leaf.

Toast until mozzarella had melted and serve with a fresh salad.

By the way, don't attempt to kiss anyone after consuming this one....

I'll have to dig it out first, but basically it's..

Rice, petit pois, spring onions, brown sugar & tomato ketchup. Can't remember the exact proportions off the top of my head, but you cook it until all the liquid is absorbed. Lovely hot or cold.

Yep

Right....

Heat 15ml oil in large saucepan, add 225g long grain rice & pour in 750ml chicken or vegatable stock, 60ml ketchup & 1 tblsp soft brown sugar.

Simmer for 12 mins then add 75g frozen petit pois & 3 chopped spring onions (green bits too) cook for another 5 mins or so until peas are cooked & liquid is absorbed.

Works well with sweetcorn or a 50/50 mix corn & peas.

I can't abide funny-tasting stout

I'm a big fan of my wife's lasagnes and meatloafs.

When I'm out it's a fry-up with black-pudding (as wifey can't stand even having it in the fridge) for brunch and big actually rare (as opposed to English rare) steaks and seafood for dinner.
I had dinner with a friend just out of York last year and I had t-bone steak, chops, gammon steak and a few other cuts as well... yum!
I had an octopus gumbo when I was in Rarotonga... FANTASTIC!

Then only thing that I can cook well, that I also really like is what I've taken to calling Bologñese Con Carne as it started it's life as a bolognese sauce but now also has loads of vegetables in it, too. There's a trick to getting the mince right ;)

Oh, yeah, I'm also a fiend for anything involving wholegrain mustard. I love me a good Beef Vindaloo, and the Nando's Double-Breast Burger with Extra-Hot Sauce.

Today's recipe is for a snack (I've had it twice today)

Toast one side of a slice of brown bread. Spread the other side with green pesto & place a slice of dry cure honey-roast ham onto this.

Thinly slice a tomato & place the slices on top of the ham, top with grated Cheddar, Emental or Mozzarella (or a combination of the 3). Return to the grill & toast until the cheese browns, cut into 3 fingers / soldiers & eat.

Yummy
