light advise please

hi folks.
can somebody tell me what the mushroom lights are like.
i have a couple of acme firebirds and wondered how the mushroom ones compared as they are cheaper than the firebirds.

can't compare cus haven't got firebirds, but we use our mushroom lights for the kids discos we do. They fill the room well but personal opinion is they don't look particularly classy or professional, so we have a different set for weddings and parties.

i agree but i dont have either lights. the firebirds looks more professional but i would use the mushrooms for kids partys.

Seriously though, I agree they're not particularly classy, but I doubt if many punters notice that!

The fact is that they are cheap & simple (much like myself), and they give a good light output that completely fills most rooms.

They'll fill any dancefloor. Two is great. Although I wouldn't leave them running all night.

I give my mine 15 minutes on 15 off as they get very hot but thats just me. Bulbs seem to last longer as well. Mind you at 3 for a £1 for 100 watt halogen bulbs they dont exactly break the bank anyway.

I believe that if you run your lighting effects all night they will heat up resulting in dammage caused by the exessive heat.It can dry out the lubrication that drives the motors round.Also the bulb issue as well.
You want to have a different lightshow rather than run the same lights all night.Thats why i have 3 different kinds of lights that i use in pairs.

thats the ideal situation.....and I should be there by next week when i get all my new lights but it takes time to get to that stage to have enough lighting and of the right quality to be able to do that.

Are you saying that disco lights are not designed to be used for more than a few minutes at a time?

I usually have my lights on all night.

I may be missing something, but I've never seen anything in the operating instructions which warns you not to use the lights for more than xx minutes at a time.

They never used to be as they were classed as 'effect lights' and just to be used for short bursts. I think the reason for this was because the first moon flower type effects didn't have fans and would get way too hot.

I love Mushrooms, ok i no they aint pro or classy but they are great for any event!

i got 2 of them from Terralec.

the ligths u said about are good and more pro but turn 2 mushrooms
