Behringer Mixers

Iv been looking at the behringer pro mixer vmx 1000 and i really like it. loads of features but what do you think of them. i have got two normal mixers and they have never gone wrong so far.

Behringer are budget, but good value and have a good build quality.

I have a PMH300 powered desk which I use for PA hire, quizzes etc and it is a good, value for money bit of kit. I also have a 10" 626 mixer as a backup and the build quality on that is very good too.

Steer clear of behringer dj mixers. If you can get a numark one for the same price i would get one of of those.

I had a behringer DX1000 in the past and it was nothing but trouble. I had it repaired once. it lasted half way through a gig after getting it back. Only to go down with the same problem. It went in for repair three times until id decided id had enough of it

Im not the only one to have problems with them. The problem i had was the main outputs breaking down on the mixer.

And there are a lot of people who I'm sure are satisfied with theirs. As I said, they are budget, but I found then to be fairly solid.

i have just had a look at the numark and i need somthing with at least 4 channels and 2 mic inputs as iv just orded a rack mount dual wireless mic set.

I have a 200FX that I use for karaoke that has 4 mic inputs. Have a look at that.

four mic inputs but there only 1/4 jack. i need 2 xlr inputs. plus didnt want to go over £150. im setting myself a strict budjet and i dont want to go over it. need to buy other stuff aswell

You can. As I just use this mixer for karaoke, I have 2 mics and 2 channels for the computer.

And actually, that is as well as the DJ mic, so in effect, you would have the DJ mic and another 2 mic channels and 2 lines or DJ mic, other mic and 3 lines. (this is getting complicated now!)

already had a look at it. lol. when looking at equipment i prefer to look at the actual item than read a manual. i can tell if it has got what i need just by looking at it (but most people can do this anyway. lol)

Agreed, but then if you haven't got access, looking at the manual or piccy is the next best thing.

not sure what type of mixer you are looking for either a dj type mixxer as in the behringer you posted or a desk but here is what i use.

it may be over your budget at around £200 but has excellent built in effects and a stand alone echo unit for karaoke will set you back far more than the difference between the price of this andd the budget you mentioned :)

mine is rack mounted the rack ears come as standard with the mixer ;)

i have a mixer like that too right next to me but didnt want a massive mixer because all i will need is 5 channels and 2 mic inputs. plus i also have to fit in a 2U dmx controller and also the other half of the double cd deck aswell (2U). so if i got a 5U mixer and what i have just said that 9U already which is about just over 15 1/2 inches of space. any bigger of the mixer then all the gear wont fit in the rack (on the top half that is).

Sorry for jumping into the thread a little late.

I use the VMX1000 all the time, solid, bulletproof, never had any problems.

I wouldn't trust the BPM counter though, I have found that to be unreliable.

For 120 quid you can't go wrong..

The thing is with beh stuff as well i found is that you can get the parts if required and the sliders are very easy to replace if you know how to use an soldering iron,


I have changed a few sliders now and even now it still keeps going,

Yeah. should do, providing the plug is wired properly. And you learn how to as part of GCSEs these days.. so no excuse for not knowing how!

see i think that mixer is way to big for a dj. just my opinion. just think. your only going to need one mic, maby two and about 5 channels max for cd players and laptop. just seems way to big for the job plus you have to move it around all the time. wouldnt a smaller mixer be enough like 1622 or smaller???

there much better mixer plus the preamps are so much better. plus i think there is more to play with on the mackie mixer anyway. plus if your good with sound engineering then this mixer will make you money. not bad for under £500 but trust me, its worth it over behringer
