From what I know, a certain big club down there is putting on a free night to launch the new Pioneer DJM 700, its probably now persuaded to me stay over on the Sunday, party all night, catch the first train back and go straight to work, so PM me the hotel details and grab your sombrero's :D

Okay then....

Now I'm not a regular at PLASA, couple of time over last 5 or 6 years, but I thought I'd offer up my thoughts for those who may still be planning to pop along.

For me, part of the attraction of the event is the ability to see and play with things that are completely out of my league. Why on earth would I enjoy that? Because I'm a huge kid at heart (as are many of us) and I just love the toys. If you think it's pointless going because the gear is irrelivent to you, then fine, maybe it is, but there is some great toys!

This year (and I can't comment on last year), LED gear was certainly the order of the day. From the big out of my budget LED video wall things (X Factor sort of gear), the high powered wall washes right down to the really quite reasonable moving head LED wash lights - which at about £300 a piece might well go on my shopping list next year (along with the moving tube things that looked like worms - fantastic!).

We managed to visit the Void demo room and the function 1 (did I spell that right?). Sorry Jamie, impressive as the Void was, the sound from the function 1 was better, although to be honest both were not my cup of tea at all and the function 1's are pig ugly!

Otherwise I managed to spend a little cash with both DMC and Mastermix, played with a huge moving head (boys and there toys) and had a little look at the new Numark PC controller. Did manage to make it onto the Kam stand almost undetected (but my collegues were nabbed by Marky Marc and ticked off for even attempting to look at Kam gear). The soon to be launched LED screens look a really really great alternative to light boxes and even star clothes. £599 list and out before Christmas. Maybe the bank manager needs another visit?

Corabar Steve

Woosie. :D

So you'd drive 85 miles, party from 7pm - 3:30am get up at 9am drive 85 miles, get showered & shaved, go back out, drive 24 miles do a gig 7 - 12, then drive 65 miles & party from 1:15am - 5:30am, get up 10am, leave at 1pm drive 85 miles, get home, mow the lawn, cook dinner, (admittedly I did vege out after this point, then get up today & want to traipse around Earls Court Exhibition Center all day?

I just got back from PLASA an hour or two ago.

For me, the Void stuff in their demo room sounded awesome.

Worst part of my day...

Having to pay £10 for 2 packs of sarnies & a 250ml bottle of fruit juice.

Highlights of my day (in no particular order)...

1) The moving tube things as mentioned above by Ricesnaps. These look very different & I loved them.

2) The two girls in short skirts on the Numark stand. :P

3) Meeting Darren. (creep creep!)

:D

Just arrived back, pretty good day out :)

Agree with you Matt, the FK1 did sound pretty good, bit harsh on the top end though IMO. To be honest, when you are trying to compete with probrably the biggest sound installation system supplier in the world, even to get somewhere close to as good must be a good achievement.

The main system in the Void room is actually for touring use, I have the mid / top cabinets.
