Barclay's Beats

I've been browsing this forum for a number of months and thought I should register so I could join in on occasion.
My name is Norval Barclay and I run a mobile disco company called Barclay's Beats based in Edinburgh. The company has been established now for 8 years after I quit the day job in Safeway to pursue the life of the self employed. We now have a couple of quality DJs who work with us either using our equipment or with their own rigs and this has allowed us to take on more work all over the country.
I personally have learned a great deal over the years, not only how to run your own business, but how to be a better DJ and the need to adapt on an almost daily basis. This is a very difficult business to survive in on a full time basis as there is a lot of competition and people who use our services are usually 'one time' customers.
I note with interest the number of keen, young prospective DJs using this forum - this is very encouraging and I applaud the more experienced member's measured and accurate advice when asked for. In this 'dog eat dog' world it's great to see a supportive community such as this so active.
More power to you all and I hope to be active in the forums real soon.
