Well guys after seeing the slagging off that i got from you ,over my lightscreens,i have finally bought myself a prolight starcloth.Looking forward to useing it this weekend!;) ;)

OH NO NOT a STARCLOTH!!!!!!!!! they're terrible, tacky, wouldn't get one of those. i haved to agree i wouldnt use the star cloth too der and look cheep even thougt they not lol if i was you [but i am not saying do this] i woukd send it back saving myself money and iver keep the light screens or get a black velvit cloth

Nothing wrong with lightboxes. As long as they are neat and maintained and dont have number plate type lettering on them. I think a lot of the older look stuff still has its place.

Starcloths are, in my opinion, an ideal frontage to a disco and give it that professional look and feel (as feedback from customers has proven), but each to their own. :cool: :D

Im neither 4 or against either look go with what you want mate... I would use both old and new either side of the star cloth

i dont like either ... lightscreens to me look old fashioned however you dress them and everyone and their auntie now has starcloth fronts so that doesnt interest me either.

Its not often I get annoyed (and each to their own), but I have to say that personally starcloth isnt tacky or rubbish.

I for one, have a real pet hate for lightboxes, but if that works for you then fine. I agree that some budget starcloth, which, if not hung nicely can look awlful but you get what you pay for.

On Friday night last week, I used 3 peices of starcloth, A) Because it was in a sports hall, B), It looks the dogs in my opinion.

The stuff I use runs DMX, is lightweight, and in a venue looks good and professional.

For smaller events, I`ll happily use it around my deck stand. (seen in centre of photo)

This was taken at the start of the night, before guests arrived. Then a couple more for effect.

Well the price, weight & form-factor of large-screen LCDs is forever dropping... no-brand 37" LCDs are retailing at under £300 now.

Some of us already use smaller TFTs. Some of us who promote video options and corporate kit-outs provide plasmas and projection.

It's only a matter of time and with roll-up displays on the cards soon who knows?

Starcloths are nice. I use one myself. Its the best frontage ive ever had. Banners look terrible. Lightscreens look so 70s been there and had them both. A starcloth sets the front off nicely

Plain black cloths i dont like. Too plain for my liking. I use my starcloth with all the LED's on static and it looks lovely

Already thought of that.

Problem is my deckstand hides my sub, wheeled rack, and a complete rats nest of wiring, plus there's the problem of getting short-throw projectors (££££££s) and rear projection material isn't particularly cheap or high contrast without spending mega ££££s. Then the most clearance I could expect is 6' x 2' - nothing like 16:9 or 4:3 format so there would be compromises - either black bands or overprojection and losing content.

So I'll probably wait for mega cheap big LCD or roll-up display :rolleyes:

There are other clever things you can do though with projectors, so keep thinking.... :Meeting:
