"Real" Mackie?

Hi everyone,

I would like you opinions on this...

I've found some nice Mackie (passive) cabs, in my search for a new PA.

They're almost half price from Dolphin, but I'm not sure if they're "real" as there is a little bit of blub, which doesn't really make sense to me (as im a lampy)!!

Dolphin are generally a good company, I've dealt with them before. The blurb seems to have been taken from the Mackie web site (ive noticed since my post) so I think they're the real deal.

Today, my new Mackies were delivered.

THEY look real to me.

The list price is £799, but I got them for £284 including next day delivery...that's only about 35% (just over a third) of the list price.

If you look hard enough, there are some great bargains to be had.

I've bought loads of stuff from Dolphin and they are absolutely fine.

Please do a bit of research and a bit of thinking before you start posting that things are fake.

I wouldn't have thought they would risk selling a copied product! They obviously just want to shift them quickly.

A few weeks back one of my suppliers was doing a clearance deal on some powered DB 12in cabs, very nice units for around £80 each (usually sell for £400 - £500), but had sold out by the time I rang to order some :(

I've used Dolphin loads too, they can be excellent in terms of competitive pricing.

I have ordered from them as well. I recognise the speakers. I played with a live band that had a pair the other day. BE warned very heavy, was looking at some myself instead of getting powered sub. But decided trying to lug them around wouldnt be great for upstairs gigs. Mackie c300z's are half the weight each and you can just add a sub if needed.
Nice sound though if you dont mind the weight. Doubt they are fake, mackie run promo's all the time on speakers.

usually mackie speaker are expensive. ok not totally expensive but there more than others. but then are really good, powerfull and reliable speakers.

i know that passives will always be cheaper because there is no amp installed but then it all depends on the specs of the speaker.

Rob got a really good there. i have never bought anything from there as i limit myself to buying from different shop via the internet. just to be on the safe side.

about 2 years ago when i was at college there was some big news that the college had bought some new EVs speaker. Payed over £4000 for speakers and when they were tryed for the first time there was nothing. opened up the box and it was just empty with a few glued bricks and a foam grill.

I know you posted with the best intentions, but a lot of people on this site have been around a little while and used these companies quite a lot.

You come across as a little naive at times. :)

Rob, did I read somewhere that your new speakers were C300z's?
Apologies if I'm wrong, but the list price of £799 is for the SRM 450s.

c300z's list is £399 each that I have seen around everywhere. But I dont know anyone who paid more than £300 a pair.

Never used Dolphin Music myself but i know they are a reputable shop. Dont worry over nothing Will.

Im sure the price will be genuine. Mackie stuff sounds great you wont go far wrong.

I worked with a band a few months ago who were using a pair of those along with a pair of the Mackie 18" subs. It sounded fantastic, I don't think you would regret buying them and as everyone else has said Dolphin are a very reputable company. If you've not already give Sound Control a call, they can sometimes be very competitve on Mackie kit.

I've had a pair of C300z's for about 6 months now and they are best speaker I have ever used. I have had several comments at gigs about the quality of the sound.

I did penmare. I was doing a wedding at Addington palace, so the acoustics weren't great, but they sounded fantastic. Now I just have to get used to their strange shape!!!

Absolutely! That's where I got my C300zs from. They currently have them at £289 a pair.

I was also considering getting a pair of 18" subs later on, and perhaps some 15" tops (from the same range) to sit on the top (if height allows) or on some seperate stands. I don't want to do this at half measure!!
