Anybody know anything about this??

I have a situation at work,

1) I applied for a Duty Team Leader position at work, and so did the deputy managers daughter. When I asked who had got it, the manager said he was going to train us both. But....... he has only trained the deputy managers daughter.

2) Every month we have a reward and recognition (employee of the month) voucher. The lad that works with me was given a voucher on saturday by the deputy manager, and she said to him, just shows we don't need Karen (me), make sure you tell her - which he did. Like he says, did she just mean for him to tell me about the voucher and not the rest?

3) other things have been said by the deputy manager about me to others members of staff

what do you think?

getting the members of staff to testify to what has been said may well be your sticking point as they will probably all want to keep their jobs???

sadly it is mainly not what you know but who these days .... ive lost count of the number of obvious equal opportunities interviews ive had where they have had no intention of giving me the job ..... which you can tell from their interview style but im a great box ticker so i get lots of interviews.

if it was a verbal agreement that you both would be trained unless you have witnesses which i doubt im afraid you are pretty much stuffed kaz.

the deputy manager obviously has a bee in her bonnet and is trying to illiminate the competition...

i would suggest putting in a grievence with the manager or regional manager and take it from there.

Unless you have Trade Union or Staff Union membership or legal employment insurance I think you will struggle.

Its amazing the difference when you say--right im taking this to the Union:eek:

Im not a great lover of Unions but it certainly helped me when I worked for a large organisation and was in danger of getting stitched up.

Sounds like you are reading too much into a situation or are being wound up for a reason , my advice keep your head down do your job to your best ability and don't rise to anything , at least should anything go wrong by doing that you would be on firm ground.

absolutely agree .... one of my friends has been off sick for the best part of 2.5 years and she is in a union ...... the company is having a real problem getting rid of her.
