Had an interesting one last night.
Turned up at the pub to find it full of Irish footie supporters watching the match on the big screen. Guess where I have to set up ................ on the stage right in front of the big screen.
It was fine until the goalposts went up, slap in the middle of the screen.
A big Irishman told me "You're taking the p:Censored: s" so I told him to watch the other TV in the opposite direction as I was there to entertain the other punters and carried on.
Finished setting up just before half time and went outside for a last ciggie before starting .... and met him and the other 7 of his cronies outside. Asked him where in Ireland he came from and he said Tyrone. Told him my family were from Kerry and became more of a friend.
Went back inside as second half was kicking off. As he came in said "I am going to play a record for my friend there from Tyrone" and played Pretty Little Girl From Omagh. Then went into an irish set of Saw Doctors, Ritchie Kavanagh etc.
When Ireland scored again to go into a 2-1 lead, I had to tell them as they were all singing and dancing, having forgotten about the TV.
I think that's the way to turn a possible problem to your advantage, don't you? By the end of the night everyone said what a great evening they had, even though Ireland only drew 2-2 in the finish.
