also think about how many watts you need ,what weight , if you want powered or unpowered

weight is not an issue as maby i might try and get a van depending on insurance.

i would like a passive setup. saves running loads of leads over a stage to the speakers.

and i was thinking about 3.4k to start off with then build up if need be but i would like to buy the subs first then replace me plastic speakers with wooden boxes for better sound plus everything will be run through a 31 band eq

i take there 650 watts each at 8ohm. now would it work if run the amp in bridge mode and go amp, speaker, speaker because the speaker have a high pass output. can i link them up this way or would i have to change the amp or can i rewire the connetions inside the subs???

I have just purchased a Biema 600w amplifier. I paid £98.99 for it. It is very good and also very loud.

not sure aobut that one. Any amp under £100 could be to cheap. dont forget that the amp would need to be run all the time for anything from 4 hours onwards???

Why not give us a complete budget. I.E. £1k for entire system, and a spec such as:
2 subs, 2 or more tops, seperate amps for tops and subs with active crossover for Y amount of people sized rooms.

Then people can work out an entire system for X amount, rather than having to guess what might go well with some unknown system!

its not as easy as that. i understand where your coming from though.

the overall price of the full system is in the air but i need to decide what make to go for. i need somthing along the lines of atleast 4k but thats over about a year. i have tops already so i need subs first. when i have the subs i will replace the tops and keep it all the same make.

i want an active crossover - was thinking of the behringer one

i want a passive system as it would be easier for me to setup.


in the end i would like 4 subs and 4 tops. subs being twice the power of the top. example(800 watts sub and a 400 watts top).

No other boxes needed, less than £650 inc leads. 2Kw, tremendous bass, when you expand the system use these as subs or tops. Just a thought for a starting point.

As I mentioned to you previously, if you're serious about PA, make sure you buy kit that's rider friendly (Kam isn't)

the other company use martin i think but i have only seen the s range (i think thats the cheaper one) but with £5000-£6000 i should be able to get some good gear. i wanna get a mackie mixer. its only got 16 xlr in but you dont really need anymore than that anyway plua its going to be rack mounted so everything i need is in one box. but still dont know what speakers to get as these are the biggest investment. any ideas will be good because i will be buying the subs at the end of this month hopefully depending if i get my over time at work.

I use a martin blackline system which is what you will mostly see mobile and the S is their sub cabinets and the F is their tops. Speaking from experience a martin setup will put you back a few grand i dont think i got much change out of £4,000 for 2 x tops , 2 x subs and the blackline controller but when i hear them its worth every penny :D

Void are excellent, we have eight Stasys boxes in our inhouse inventory, great for large corporate discos and live SR alike

If you're looking at 16ch analogue mixers, I'd recommend the A&H mixwizard over the Mackie.

On the subject of desks, have you already got your OB yet, cos if not may be worth looking at the Yammy 01V96 v.2 if you're digitally inclined could save you a lot of pennies in the long run and if you're the main/only user (as opposed to dry hiring your PA) it's a real consideration

lol. i ment the mixer. those void speakers look massive. had a look at the mixer. Saw it for £630 web price and i think im in love with this mixer. saw the back and there even direct out so i could use it at home in the studio. i might fork out a bit more and get this one. :D :D :D
