how do you guys get on with yellow pages and yell.com for advertising, i know it is a bit area specific so i thought i would ask scottish dj's, got a meeting with the rep tomorrow but so undecided what to do:bang:
the general opinion reading through a few forums is it`s a waste of money,
is that what you guys think???

I've never advertised in the YP so can't really comment. I'd reckon the money would be better spent on other advertising options.

My sincere apologies admin ............. Tony was being silly :D :D

although im not in scotland i will say this on yellow pages , I personally do not feel it any longer benefits my business as i get a lot of call from it from people who wish to accquire a £100 disco which I most definately no longer am or people trying to sell me things.

the standard of client i have detected from the good book is not really what im aiming at so this year i have shelved it and all my advertising is internet based.

this is a 12 month or so trial (maybe with developments around easter watch this space) and i will see what happens.

I do speak to a leicester based dj who says he gets alot of work from yp though??? 20 miles down the road?

my advice would be do what i did try it ..... i got a white out ad which stands out on the yellow page but doesnt cost as much as a all colour expensive job , if you have the cash dangle a toe but dont put your whole foot in just yet.

I would say its a waste of money, your better spending your money on advertising elsewhere. or spend the money on design and printing colour brochures.

Waste of money i got a quote for around £140 ish but ive heard it aint worth it so didnt bother just got a free add in it brings in a not bad amount of bookings i guess. Too many companys use YP , BT Phonebook etc etc these days so the customer aint going to call everyone they will just randomly select numbers to call.
