Hey chaps,
Sorry if this one comes up too often.
Where would you suggest is best to advertise.
I don't really want to join big website directories or magazines as i just want a small amount of work (a gig every other week ish) and i only really cater for under 16s parties, so i don't believe it will do much good. I am in the next edittion of the local yellow pages and am looking at going in the local paper.
What are your thoughts???

Well i have had some fliers made but i was unsure of how schools would react, do you know if they allow it?
Thats a good idea!!!
personally i would go with joining the websites.. it doesn't hurt to get the enquiries.
But if that isn't your thang then a carefully worded letter to schools would hopefully do the trick.. and they may well book you the next time they have a school event.. and would probs put up a flyer or something for you as well.
If you did do a school event.. get a banner made or something.. so the guests know where to go to book you if they like what they see
Personally I am getting 90% of my bookings through people finding my website.. and online directories.. and the other 10% just seem to find me lol.
I will admit i am not the busiest DJ.. but i do turn down a lot of gigs and I'm doing the level of gigs that i am comfy with.. otherwise i wouldn't have time for things like working at the theatre.. or gliding :-)

Even though i only do under 16 type parties????
What would you suggest (free and paid ones)
yes. 1) there will be a time where you want to expand
2) dont limit yourself
3) you will still get under 16 enquiries through the sites
Well.. there is this one (MDD) and UK -Disco.. which spring to mind as the main ones.
Really it is a case of finding them on the net by searching instead of me listing them.. also you could find an agent.. a bit like http://discoz.com/ to pass you work.
Sorry if im not being much help.. but if you want to chat.. add me on msn.
