I was at a club last night trying out for a Sunday/Monday residency and encountered the above set-up - it didn't take me long to get my head around the basics but I have questions for any who have used these...

1) Most important! Is there a way to make the CDJs play one track only rather than running onto the next track? My Numarks have single/continuous play options but I couldn't find anything similar anywhere on the Pioneers. I s'pose it's good practice to zero the fader after a track has finished but I don't habitually and got caught out loads last night.

2) Cueing... Pre-fader listen is simple enough but is there any way to send the post-fader mix to the headphones on the Xone mixer? I simply couldn't find anything that looked promising in that regard.

3) Mixing... on my Numarks there are the pitch up and pitch down buttons that allow you to temporarily bump the speed of play back up or down to align beats, nothing similar on the CDJs that I could see other than the vinyl-esque push and pull on the pitch fader which is hardly ideal for CDs (might be fine for vinyl) - fortunately my lightning reflexes meant that most tracks were dropped in time :D

4) Pitch increments... one of the CDJs had 0.05% pitch increments, the other had 0.02% pitch increments how can you select which (both were set to +/-6%)

Thanks in advance.

Ummm... which CDJs? I assume the 1000s? I can't remember off hand, without looking at them. You should be able to download the manual though?

Didn't see which model (it eas dark). And I'm trying to avoid downloading manuals just for the moment.

Regarding the pitch on the pioneers, rotate the side of the platter not the top surface they will then pitch bend.

Not sure about the mixer, depends which model, but on my Allen & Heath Xone 3d there are two buttons just below the master volume and mix out knobs that control pre and post fader.

If your unsure you can download the manuals from Pioneers and Allen & Heaths website

Thanks James, I'll eye-ball 'em for those knobby-things.

Side of platter? Good-O!

If its the CDJ 1000, on the top right hand side you have a button called TIME MODE / AUTO CUE, hold this button down to put it into Auto Cue mode, or to take it off, that'll stop it from its continious play mode.
Also the pitch bend thing, its got a button (third one above pitch control) that'll change your platter from VINYL MODE to CDJ MODE so the whole platter will become your pitch bend, saves trying to use the side of the platter.

No problem, and if its not the 1000 model, let us know, I'll have a look and a play with the 800 model LoL
