Received this the other day.......

Hello everyone,

Just a quick e-mail to try to raise money for our friend Adam Griffin. He is trying to raise £55,000 to pay for the treatment he needs for his bowel cancer. The NHS is unwilling to pay for the treatment.

xxxxxx is going to cycle arount the circumference of Lincolnshire in two weeks time - @260 miles!- to help.

This is not a scam as we know him through other people so a friend in a sort of way, we replied with -

This is a friend of a friend who we have met a few times, lovely person. We have offered to hold a fundraising disco so if nothing else, I hope that those of you who can come, will come and drag some others with you..details to follow!

Sell some glowsticks?

Raffle?

Quiz? Give 50% back in prizes. Balance to charity. Winners will probably tell you to keep it anyway.

Round of Bingo? Ditto.

All stuff you can easily sort out on the night.

Contact your local hospice fundraising team - they'll have loads of great ideas as they do this full time.

What about hosting a charity horse race night... Great fun for everyone involved and you usually find as people can win money too they are more likely to turn up to it and take part.

What about a sponsored disco smash :D for every £1000 raised you have to smash a bit of your kit :D:D


Or just a sponsored disco pay a entrance fee etc you get the drill :lol:

Why don't you/organiser write to football clubs local/premiership etc and ask for signed shirts.

I done a charity party and they had quite a few signed items all from Premiership clubs.

Try contacting the events staff at the biggest supermarkets near you? You could set up in the main foyer for part of the day, and take donations for any requests, have the staff donate in order to get the managers to do the macarena etc etc

Try a Arctic sized Lorry tug From your local water hole with all your disco gear in as well playing your std set through your local High St Great advert for your local, your disco and the Charity???

Yeah but where is the money being raised there? Donations from spectators? I can't see much money being raised against the hire of the lorry - you would definitely raise a lot more in a fundraising night.
