What is going on guys no sign of any movement has the whole issue been swept under the proverbial carpet???????

Has the issue been dealt with or what???

As soon as the MCPS and PPL have something to tell us, it will be posted here. We (LWP) are constantly in touch with them, but there is nothing to report at the moment.

It's a bit of a p take isn't it, not only do we have to pay to buy the track, we also have to pay to play the song.

I doubt you'll find many DJs that comply with the second part, until it's all been sorted out.

Have you read through it though? If you do, you will see why it cannot possibly apply to most DJs.

PPL usually licenses the occupier of the premises if the sound recordings and the equipment are not rented. If you hire a music system, juke box and/or sound recordings from PPL-licensed operators to provide background music, the operator or supplier should obtain the licence on your behalf. If you are holding any other events such as discos or dance sessions, you yourself may also need an extra licence direct from PPL. In some cases we can also license the organiser of an event.

The above reads as "Let's see how many licenses we can possibly sell to cover just one event"!!!!

I bought the DDJ license when it came out but haven't bothered renewing until they get themselves sorted. These licencing authorities are their own worst enemies, by making it as complicated and expensive as possible, they are actively encouraging people not to bother even trying to be legal.

Why are they too darn stupid to realise this??????
The LWP have been giving them working solutions until they are blue in the face, but no, I guess they are just trying to find ways to make as much money as it's physically possible without actually commiting crime themselves.
