I think this has been done on a few threads recently with people starting out, hasn't it? £1000 budget, but similar thing.
What would you get then Flatliners?

Yeah, but what?
Well, it doesn't matter really, does it, as I've only got £1500 to buy a complete setup - which is impossible in my opinion! :)
Anyway, we did this before didn't we?
Yes, we did - this thread (http://www.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=8179), started by the same guy :D

With or without music?
Without means you can get a reasonable setup with quality(ish) components.
With and you're p'ing in the wind mate...
Without Music:
Pair of Peavey Pro15's with stands, cables (Stagebeat.co.uk) £220
Warrior IS3000 amp (DJkit.co.uk) £295
Numark DM950USB mixer (DJkit.co.uk) £84
Shure 607N mic (DJkit.co.uk) £30
Any old headphones (ebay) £10
Ultimax 4' single bar stand (DJkit.co.uk) £133
DJkit starcloth (DJkit.co.uk) £99
NJD Datamoon kit (2 moons, case, controller, cables) (DFB) £250
Pair Stairville Tomahawk (thomann.de) £120
Entry-level laptop (PCworld/ebuyer/dabs etc.) £250
OTS turntables silver (OTSturntables.com) £30
Total £1521 plus a few quid for cables, delivery charges, bit of MDF & black paint to form a deck stand shelf
And that's without shopping around. Obvious ways to reduce budget -
1. Cheaper amp (maybe as low as £170-200)
2. Cheaper deckstand (eg. Giraffe £80)
3. Drop starcloth in favour of a bedsheet (£10-20)
4. Cheaper lighting in favour of Tomahawks (eg. "mushrooms")
But I think this combo would give a good show for low-to-mid-range private functions and wouldn't fall apart after 5 minutes. It's a good set of building blocks for future enhancement and will fit in a smallish car. THERE'S NO BACKUP THOUGH. If you lose an amp, mixer, laptop you're dead.
OK guys light the flamethrowers...

OK substitute a PV1500 for the same price, but it'll be a little underspec for the speakers. Would sound wicked though in that price bracket.
I've used Warriors for donkeys years with all sorts of speaker arrangements without any issues. OK so they're budget but imhoae they're good.

I would say a pair of mackie c300z's very good speakers can get a pair for £300
Maybe a good beringer amp for about £250 euro 2500 or similar
You can get a dj 4 foot stand with starcloth for £200 (ebdj if anyone is intersted)
2 vango diamonds for £100
2 exercets for £100
senheiser mic £49
Senheisser headphones £20
And a numrak cd mix as it comes in its own carry case and comes with all cables.
Advantage of this setup is you can replace decks later with more expensive or just keep it as a backup.
