Risk Assessment

Does anyone have a draft that they could let me have for their Disco please?

Been asked to produce one at a venue we dont know--and whilst we always follow risk assessment when we get to the gig---like im not using that dodgy electric socket and get the floor mopped up before someone breaks a leg--we havent been asked to provide a written risk assessment IN ADVANCE.

THIS IS BEING ASKED FOR AT A VERY HIGH PROFILE VENUE---NO NAMES:D

Power usage , maximum draw. Worst case problems. Fire exit and escape routes. Hight of ceiling, type of flooring. Placement of lighting effects. That about covers mine other than effect specific like smoke, bubbles ect.

Thanks Matt--but thats specific to the PREMISES--no time to go there in advance.

What about the DISCO and its equipment, hazards from falling speakers, Electrical earth failures etc?

I CANT GET INVOLVED WITH THE PREMISES--NEVER BEEN THERE.

The venue guy said Discos roll up there with Risk Assessments on their equipment and use of it.

Thats what im after ( I think)

Things like effect of Lasers and Strobes I guess ???

Sure he doesnt just mean PAT and safety tests. Or maybe use of safety cables etc.

Me too as I'm just sorting out all my paperwork, i.e. PLI, PAT, insurance, invoices etc... could do with something like this while I've got my paperwork head on (doesn't happen very often lol)

Can you give an example of that please Jamie--for example do you mean when you get to the premises and see a problem you tell the organiser and note it on the form and ask for it to be sorted out ?

Ill call it RAD risk assessment document

Or during a gig if a dangerous situation arises ---tell the organiser to rectify the problem and note it down later?

I stopped a Barn Dance some years ago when there was a very slippery floor until it had been cleaned up, thats ongoing risk assessment I guess.

Also do you hand a copy of the RAD to the organiser on arrival and ask them to sign anything.

Do you send them something at time of the confirmed booking?

Im sure theres lots of people on here( like me) who would like to follow the correct procedure---but dont know the exact procedure to follow

I guess using this procedure can only raise standards which I think is what its all about---

You only need to show a Risk Assessment if you are asked for it. Just keep it for your own records. It's not up to you to document risks / problems caused by the venue or guests, just risks that you, your actions and your equipment cause.

In terms of when you are at a show, just carry out the 'steps to be taken' for each risk.
