hi guys im looking for a good mixer that has good mic response any good ideas please dave.

Speaker and Amp quality
Microphone quality
Speakers wrongly positioned
Gain level too high

As Alan says, it may help the more technical amongst us if we have a run down of what kit you have & what settings it's on.

Might be that you don't need to get a new mixer, just adjust things with what you've got.

I use that mixer, and have no problems with feedback. Make sure you don't set the channel gains too high, and therefore have the mic gain too high to compensate - the same applies to all mixers.

i have ev eliminator speakers running off a peavey 2600 amplifier, i have a shure pg58 radio mic , shure sm58 wired mic and shure beta 58 wired mic ,and i get bad feed back with them all ?.

I would say just adjust your settings on your existing mixer then.

Have a play until it works.

Turn the master out down on the mixer.

Are you level or behind your cabs?

The gain is very high on that mixer on the mic channels, but you should be able to compensate by adjusting other levels.

I have the same mixer and use a mix of Shure leaded and radio mics and don't get any problems.

iam behind the speaker cabs ,i have been playing around with different settings for ages but just seem to get know where, what do you set the mic eq to on your mixer?

also what leads do you use for the mics ?

i appreciate any help its driving me totaly nuts i have only had this problem since i brought this mixer .

I usually set the amp volume to 90-95%, and up the mixer master volume throughout the night. I keep the gains on all the channels to their default positions (occasionally boost them temporarily for older, quieter CDs), and generally this means that I don't have to adjust the mic volume.

Well you seem to have top gear so bit strange---unless a fault has developed in another piece of equipment at the same time you changed the mixer.

WHERE ARE YOU DOING YOUR TEST---If in your house not good for proper problem solving--you need to be in a hall.

I cant think how a mixer could cause bad feedback---if its new take it back to the shop and get them to test it.

Theoretically whatever the settings as long as the mike volume is kept reasonable there should not be any feedback.

What mixer did you have before?

Can you borrow another mixer and try that on similar settings?

I regularly work on all types of DJ equipment and never have feedback problems using my JTS radio Mike :confused:

hi again guys , i was out again at the weekend djing a wedding and itried everything you all suggested ,ie i put the speakers 2 feet in front of the deckstand, turn down the mic gains and mastergain which slightly inproved the feedback but the output was very low and people could not hear me .

How hi is the Hi EQ on your mic? Does rolling it down to nothing improve the feedback (whilst rogering your clarity and audibility)?

If there's a fault on the mic-EQ it could be acting as a hi-pass filter rather than an EQ and that might be your problem.
