broken speaker base

does anyone have any ideas how to fix the hole underneath the speaker where the pole slots in?

i've got a pair of class d speakers and the screws in the chipboard have came out because the chipboard has come apart

would wood filler or anything like that do the trick do you think?

If it's a workmanship issue I'd give them a call and have a whinge.

If it's poor handling tough.

I'd think it would probably be better to whack a bit of half inch ply on the bottom, re-seat the top hat and paint it black or cover it in carpet stuff. Might want to do the other one too so they still match. If the top hat's not damaged, should only cost about a tenner.

For the best repair, take out the speaker, glue in a plywood patch,( inside the cab, obviously) and screw in with larger gauge screws.

The advice from James Lake is good, definitely go up a screw thickness though, I had the same problem in reverse with subs, although punters falling into them may perhaps have weakened them somewhat!:bang:

Wood glue's good but takes a while to dry properly.

We used to use two part car body filler, sets fast and is tough as steel if you get the right type. Also, you can mould and shape it easily (as long as you're fairly quick!) and it files down well, so you should be able to get a good fit. :)
