Hi all, i was thinking of buying a buble machine for this years christmas gigs, but they must shorley make the dancefloor slipery.
so if any of you use them can you tell me what they are like.

They are fine if you use the right fluid. No being tempted to pop a little fairy liquid in there now! I think I have Antari fluid. Actually come to think of it it's an Antari machine!
They are fine for what they are - I must say I tend to forget I have it a lot of the time and then a client specifically asks for it and we're off again. Tends to be more of a kids thing though

They do indeed! I find they are best used over carpet, or grass, but not hard surfaces. If you use them on hard floors, be very sparing, and not too often.

I have a double machine (big boy!) and use the correct fluid.. and it still gets slippery!
It is at the extent i only take it when requested and that if i do take it .. it goes to the side of our rig.. and a mop is taken!
I don't want to see people slipping over.. hurting themselves or my rig.
(ps. I nearly slipper over as I was taking down one of my expensive moving heads lol!)

I have two small antari ones but havn`t used em since last year as a drunk bloke slip up on the dancefloor and it actually made me think it wasnt worth having the risk of someone trying to sue my butt!!:eek:
They look great, just dont use em on nice smooth dancefloors!!

Why invest in a bubble machine?
There is an easier way to get the same results - just squirt fairy liquid all over the dance floor.
It still turns the dance floor into a death trap & leaves you wide open to be sued...but it's an easier & cheaper way of doing it!

Check your PLI!
Most DJ policies these days exclude liability for anything involving bubble machines (as Jamie has already said his does)

Recent conversation with a bride about her reception....
bride: the hotel won't allow smoke so can we have bubbles instead for our first dance?
me: of course no problem....so instead of looking like you're floating on a romantic cloud you'll look like you're dancing on a bowl of washing up water! And as the floor can get quite slippery....could be quite interesting!
bride: I'm convinced......music on its own for my first dance will be fine
I always throw in a confetti cannon for the first dance for effect....that always goes down well....when i can get the bugger to go off!

I use a bubble machine regularly and have had no problems as yet, mainly because i use it sparingly and put a fan behind it to spread the bubbles more evenly through the room, it gets a great reception especially from the kids or at the end during the climax of new york-new york

I use a bubble machine, the kids love it, but the floor does get slippery. It is only used on request, I find putting a fan behind it does wonders.

I've checked the photo again, and she doesn't look like she can afford BUPA, so I think her plaster was definately done by the NHS...probably in one of her local hospitals before it closed!

May I suggest putting Chalk dust or lightly throw sand dust the floor before using bubble machines. No one slips and it mops up on dance floors NO one slips etc etc Also easy to sweep up

& of course before the bubbles soak in the chalk dust is basically talc which would make the floor hazardous on it's own

I think it would be better to use talc in the first place.
It would be handy if any dancers noticed they had a rash!

I think it would be better to use talc in the first place.

:confused: :confused: Don't know about an old theatre trick for NOT slipping, but I know it's an old ballroom dancers trick to enable them not to stick and so glide across the floor - ie make it MORE slippery :confused: :confused: :confused:

So if its for christmas gigs have you thought of a snow machine i have a couple of small ones i drag out at for the festive season seems to go down well no slip ups yet.:)

Dont do why but the snow machines leave very little residue on the floor seems to melt away no pun intended:D

We have been asked a few times if we have a bubble machine.
I'm not too sure if to get one or not:confused: My worry is the dance floor becoming slippery and someone having an accident!
Any thoughts would be appreciated :)

They have their ups and downs.. you just need to think carefully about how you use it and where you use it.
I have one.. but it doesn't go out much!

Ive had a bride slipping and landing on her booty in the middle of a slippery dance floor. After that the bubble machiene got binned!
use it wisely and in moderation.. they are fine..

eg. risk to you and your guestsSorry - but the bride has no right to sign on behalf of everyone else unless she had approached every single guest herself, obtained their authority, and could prduce those authorities to you! Your contract is with the person named in your contract, no-one else, and one person cannot waive the legal rights of another.
Ok not signed on behalf of.. but as they are booking the service.. they are recognising the risk or something along those lines...
hmm.
i'll check on this with my brothers fiancé.. also a lawyer :-)
