Prolight 120cm Disco Stand

How many lights can you fit across the top of the Prolight 120cm stand?

I'd like to fit 4 dynamos and a centerpiece across the top.

PS - Any ideas on the centerpiece to compliment the Dynamo's? (Dynamos are 100W versions)

I use to fit 4 across the top (Dynamo's).....and fill the sides out with a Sorm bird and Gobo..........I think that's plenty.....

Clamp Stormbirds to the vertical side post, or use seperate T-Bar for Stormbirds positioned at the side of the Prolight stand??

I may be wrong but I think he means the 4 dynamos on the 4 middle fittings..
And then have the gobos and storm birds on the overhangs.

The double derby centerpiece you mentioned..ive had a look, and it says that its a 300W lamp? Wont that look too powerful verses my 100W Dynamos?

by looking at the pic (which doesn't show it very well) it looks like there may be fittings for nine lights.

THe only thing you need to be careful with is weights.. may not be a great idea to put a heavy light at the very ends.

As for the double derby.. there are various units out there.

If im honest 100w is a starting point.. i expect you will find that you will want to get lights with more umph with time.. especially if you do any veneus which are still fairly light!

4 Dynamos in the middle - Stormbird over left hang over, Gobo over right hang over.

Or squeeze a Wild Tech in the middle of the 4 Dynamos shinning down or up.......plenty of light.

2 going one way and 2 the other works good.
Also start with just the other lights only.....then add the Dynamos a little later on............when it really gets going...

Dynamos are a good light but fast.............
IMHO.......:)

The other option you could consider is getting the 180cm version of the rig or look around for others.

Although it really depends what your budget is.

Also beware that the weight limit is only 40kg... not very much!!

If it's like my Giraffe, the top bar is way more than 120cm long, as it's two pieces bolted together. It can physically accomodate far more lights than it can support! First time I used mine, it sagged noticeably in the middle. Now that I have introduced it to my mig welder, and a piece of surplus truss, it would carry anything.:)
