what is a good media player for visulisations? or where are they in media player 11?

Get VDJ Paul. There are loads you can put into that.

or use r4 , quite pricey but very very good

Yep, R4. Or have a look at WinAmp and it's hundreds of free-to-download visualisations - much better than Media Player.
