Not good enough

Having stuck with the I-show 4b;s this year, I really think I need to give up a bad job. They have never quite been what I had hoped for - which was a bright floor filler with some control over colour. The last 5 gigs, they haven't even gone in the van!

Currently using:

4 x LED PARS
3 x Datamoon

To be honest, when I'm not using the arch, the goalpost looks somewhat crowded if I even add two of the I-Shows.

I have a feeling my rig is going down a similar route to Dragons - but I can't remember what you have now!

So What to replace them with. There will be occasions where I am playing to a 250+ room and need maybe a little more room fill than the Datamoon / PARS give me, but more often than not, it's the wedding market.

Did wonderd if I should go for a pair of IS-5 moving heads, but will they be enough to compliment what I already have in a larger room.

If not, what shoudl I be considering?

I now concentrate my lighting on the dancing area not the entire room ...... i find a 40cm mirror ball gives a nice effect about the room and other lighting for larger venues is 4x imove 5 moving heads and 2 or 3 ishow 3 0r 4s.

my new policy is the people that want the flashing lights and loud music are the ones on the daning area and the ones sat having a drink and chat at the back and sides want to do just that .... without needing ray-bans.

good shout- worry about the people on the dance floor for both sound and light.

get some dynamos for £300 for 4.

yeh, agree with that.

I like the effect you already do with your Pars behind the rig.. (the backwash as it were).. i personally like doing things like that.. because it gives people something to 'look at'

I agree, lighting should focus around the dancefloor, but it is good to have something interesting for the non-dancers to look at. Having a couple of dynamos sweep the walls and ceiling is pretty cool.

I've been experimenting with focussing the main action of the lights on the ceiling above the dance-floor with spill onto the dancefloor but not the seated punters. Seems to work quite well - and no-one's squinting at me from the dancefloor.

Yes, that does work well too, especially if you get the beams coming up from the ground to the ceiling. It's not very practical having lights down low in venues where you're on the same level as the dancefloor though.

my lighting covers all areas dance floor to back of the hall areas, ok its not DMX controlled but it is all sound to light and a flick of a switch can do as much as any DMX lighting

Feel free to checkout what I can carry, but what I do carry is sufficient for any night. And I haver been given excellent praise for a great show retro or not

I have been looking for something to enhance my shows abit more, Just looking for a few more gobo effects or a couple of scanners so if anyone knows anybody who is selling give me a shout! :D
