hi all just got back from a fantastic gig
got to the venue ( only about 2 miles from my home ) with enough time to set up for the 6 oclock start the bar was in a seperate room and we all know how funny gigs can be when a bar is in another room.
when the coupl whos wedding it was booked me she said dont worry if they dont get up and dance they are not really a dancing crowd and she said play anything and everything
after setting up i went to the bar and ordered a pint and the barman said because i was the dj i got my drink free and very nice buffet
from the first song to the last dance floor was packed played everything from the 70s to persent day and even played some old 80s high energy music
that o zone track and the dance cover of i dont wanna miss a thing went down a storm
had lots of comments on my performance and my lighting rigg
got 2 bookings off it for next year
on packing down the show knocked 5 mins off my pack down record
it was a great night

last week i was at the place i did my first disco about 17 years ago brought back lots of memorys
so a great coupl of gigs

Have you noticed how often that happens? It's when they say "Oh, it's a great crowd and they'll be really up for it" that you need to worry! :eek:

I had a blinder as well, shared with a band. The last hour was mine...over ran....had 145 out of 150 people on the dance floor. They couldn't move! Band were good too!

I wasn't looking forward to my gig last night (18th) as the event questionnaire said that they wanted indie and rock all night.

However, the guests wanted a whole bunch of different stuff which ranged from Black Lace to Prince Buster and DJ Casper to Bon Jovi.

Dance floor packed from 9 til midnight and I was so funny watching a group of goths singing their hearts out to 'Reach' and 'Greased Lightning'.

Very happy! Great group of people. (It turns out that the parents filled in the questionnaire)

Pretty often. We take the comment "Don't worry, they never dance" as a personal challange.

Just got our 3rd booking from the athletics club, who, we were assured last christmas would not dance. They did, all night. That was in their club room, very cosy! The second was in the main hall, because they needed more room to dance!

A dj simply needs to read the crowd to find what makes them move.
