Just out of interest what do you chaps think??....

In terms of a 250watt dmx scanner would you go for the acme leo's and scimitors or The winner and rovers (both are mirror and barrel versions)

What are the pro's and con's of each, i know that the leos and scimitors are slightly more expesive as second hand value. (i'm forgetting Dynamos because i am more interested in a 250watt scanner).

What are your thoughts?

oh, forgot about that........ok include that one in the debate. Although i don't think there will be many in the secoond hand market as they are new out.
(i can't afford to go for new:bang: ).

I don't mind that, just means there are more second hand scanners out there that have a low resale value because everyone aspires to moving heads:D :D :D :D

I'm not quite sure why you are 'forgetting' Dynamos - there are 250w versions out now for around £100 each.

The winners and Rovers should be more expensive s/h, as they are more expensive new.

Winners and Rovers have separate colour and gobo wheel, whereas Leo's and Scimitars don't

Winners and Rovers are bigger and heavier then the Leos and Scimitars.

You're so behind the times Dave. Scanners are the new moving head. ;)

I'm putting my heads on the floor now (well on cases) and having the 4 Martin scanners and the EFX500 on the bar.:cool:

So its a weigh up.

That's because they are new and there won't be any second hand ones about at the moment.

I might be tempted go for 4 Winners and 2 Rovers - if it were me:p

Leo & Scimitar's are now discontinued, so you may pick them up cheap, their replacements the Dynamo and Dynarock are good little units for the price, but then as mentioned the Rovers & Winners have seperate colour and gobo wheels.

Its really a case of what you want to spend, or are willing to spend. I use Winner's and Rovers, but they are on the heavy side, but are great units.

go for the prolight i rock 5s and 5b hid lamped effects you wont be dissapointed

from this thread, i have at the moment 4 dynamos which have all been set to dmx settings, but im going to get a pair of the dynarocks so what would be the best settings for them all to be set to. Im not best of understanding dmx etc, so if someone could tell me the best way to set them up would be great.

very true....i bought my two dynamo scanners for £100 each second hand(barely used actually).....i'm dead pleased with them! And I've seen plenty around too!

mysteriesman has got a light show which includes dynamo scanners and a dynorock as centre piece....it looks wow. If you go to www.mysteriesroadshow.co.uk/roadshow.htm theres a demo video of them working
