Moving Heads (Imove)

If you use the Imoves, what kind of cases do you put them in?

I bought the Prolight ones which are really bulky and take up loads of room, so have been looking for something smaller.

What do you use then?

Nothing, i just take care of them. Like you say the boxes are far to large.
Any decent case would cost as much as the light so i figure if i did drop it, i'd buy a new one

Space isn't really an issue for me, I find the cases perfect for my needs. I keep all the dmx cables and extension cables I use for the fixtures inside the cases as well. If there's space, I'll fill it with something..lol.

Off the top of my head, I'm sure they were around 80 quid each. Yep they are pretty "airy", but I like the fact that they're nice and light. Perfect for my old creaking bones.

I've had mine about a year and they're still going strong in their original cardboard boxes. OK there's a bit of gaffa round the edges but they'll still be good for a while yet.

But then they only go out to about half of gigs.

You spend hundreds or thousands of pounds on lighting and then leave it in a cardboard box. I think it looks naff too.

i agree, but some cases are as dear as the lights, faulse economy in my opinion on the cheaper lights, lets face it the lights in question are budget effects in the world of moving heads

And still £250 each, the same as a reasonably priced scanner. You're not really making sense on this one Paul! Are you telling me that none of your lights are worth casing because of the price? Surely if you look after them, case them, then they will look better for longer and have a better resale value.

The Prolight cases are between £70 to £90 depending on where you look.

Yes, but the prolight are far too big. Take a pro case for these lights and your talking nearer £200.
Yes mine are all in cases except the moving heads, and my moving heads are in mint condition still. I just take care of them, place them well in the car(if with trailer) or place well in the Galaxy. All my kit is well looked after and still looks new.
When it comes to amps,mixer etc, then yes they are all in road ready cases.
If we are talking £1000 per moving head then yes, i would spend £200 on a case. The prolight cases in my opinion are just thin, flimsy and a waste of money

Mostly only get used at weddings, and mostly early setups. The boxes are away in the van by the time anyone sees them.

Agree about naffness and virtually all of my other gear is cased. But they're good sturdy boxes and when they eventually cark it I'll splash on some proper ones :D

Well, not that cheap, but cheaper than the £90 that the Prolight ones were.

The only other thing is....if you fly them, they won't go in the case - you'll have to take the brackets off and the handles actually.

Err, why will it last longer? They are both full flight case and the Thomann one is more expensive and a lot heavier.

The Terelec ones can be carried one in each hand.
