As i had booked a day off work to relax i thought i would try out my pa system to the full limit.

set it all up in my bedroom with eq and compressors so i didnt blow the speakers and start to turn it up. i was playing misery buisness by paramore.


at half voloume it was getting kind of loud with the tv shaking (on the wall). got it to nearly full volume with no distortion (while wearing ear plugs). had it running for a few minutes with a total of 800 watts and about 122db then turn it off.


about 20 minutes later there was a knock on the door, open the door and it was the police. :bang:


someone had complained about some really loud music. the only person i could think of is one person down the road. evevybody else is cool with my music just as long its not constant.

i explained to the officer that i was trying out some new speakers that i had bought (even though i got them last year) and told him that it was a one off.

all he said was if your going to do this again could you tell your neibours about what you are going to do and tell them for how long.


i was like :eek: . i was expecting a telling off for it, guess some poilce men and woman can be nice after all. maby next time i might open the windowns and really annoy the people in my street. :D :D :D

I didn't think the police came out straight away for that kind of thing anymore. I thought you had to report it to some kind of "Noise Pollution" ? department and they would follow it up at a later date?

i;m in the middle of the country.. so no one really around... can be as noisy as I want.... great for out door raves in one of the fields:p

If one of my neighbours did something like that, I'd just go and knock on their door and ask them to pipe down, and I'd like to think it works the other way round too. If I have to test my PA, there are a few venues nearby that I'm on good terms with, so I'm sure they wouldn't object - and it would be a more accurate test too. Never really felt the urge though!

a few minutes of testing and the bobbys come round thats a bit harsh really ..........

i called them a few weeks ago about our neighbours as it got to 2am and we were sat in our living room and you could hear clearly what song was being played .....

the house in question having a party was about 25 metres down the road on the opposite side !!!!!!! and our living room is at the back of the house.

did feel like popping over to see what system they had though?

well i gave that a go with my dad up in my room with me to give me his opinion. cranked it right up to nearly full and he put his fingers in his ears.

now, were talking about a man who went to see the who (many years ago) and was about 3 meters away from the speakers and he was telling me to turn it down. :lol:


all he said was "hmm there ok, i supose". i just laughed and said cheers and left it at that.
