how much do dj's get paid?

no don't panic im not opening a pricing debate again .... the question i was wondering and its fine if those that do this dont want to discuss figures but what i was wondering is

how much does a walk - in dj get paid ish as a ball park figure? for say 7.30pm-12am

im not thinking of employing nooo but was once offered a job by someone else at £10 an hour is this the going rate?

just to turn up with laptop/cortex and music for example?

iam currently exploring lots of avenues at the moment as one or two know this is simply just one of them.

I was in local job ceter the other day and they were looking for DJ's for walking jobs at national minimum wage. Trouble is bedroom DJ's are never in short supply and even if they had a different one each night they would never run out.

depends where and what type.

i reckon you are looking at a lot more than £10 an hour for club work.
when i worked at sheffield uni 10 yrs ago you were looking at double that at least.

sorry really looking at what im doing now .... private functions but without the lugging gear and physical stress of things .... my beat mixing is shocking so clubs wouldnt even go near me i dont think, and dont think my style would suit that environment.

Aound here mobile DJ's get £50 -60 per night maybe more if they set up or break things down ready for transport all they need is there music

Club DJing I would expect at least £150 - 200 before even moving out of my room LOL I was paid £500 per night at one point but those nights I was doing emergency cover for top DJ's like sasha, westwood etc etc in far flung countries

I suppose the Northampton Job Centre is just the place to find a suitable DJ.

Must be lots people on their books suitably qualified--Builders, Plumbers, Office workers etc.:eek:

i work in a local night club in Leeds, i get £250 a night and just walk in with my cds, headphones and a mic, This club is a highly accalimed and suffisticated .... as for other walkin walkout jobs around Leeds they get around £120 which still isnt bad money to be honest with you.

Pubs is usually around £80
