hi i was going to buy this controller: http://www.skytronic.co.uk/rsc/man/100/154050.pdf
but i was trying to find out if it lets the select what lights you wish to control.
ive e-maield skytronic but have got a reply, so i was hoping you lot would be able to help me please.
ive had DMX lights for ages but only just started trying to control them etc...

i expect so.. but it looks quite limiting...
I would suggest something like http://www.ebdj.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?product_id=12054 which will give you much more scope and will enable you to run a decent light show.
Although previously you did say that you have Daslight.. so you don't need to select the scanner on the controller.. you just run it as an 'in' to the software with Subs.. or something along those lines :)

I use the acme and can recomend it, mind you im still working out how to do most things on it.
yeh.. the ACME one is great for starters and people who are new to DMX.. once you have got used to it and programming.. you just have to work at it..

Oh ok.. what interface do you use with it to link to your DMX? How much did it cost you? Where did you get it from?
And if i'm honest.. i don't know what you mean by 'controller reality'.. the one you linked to has 6 max channels per fixture and has no capabilities at all realistically.. where as daslight is the dogs**** compared to it..

daslight is done by pc so that i dont control them by deck.
it cost £300 and i got it from www.daslight.com
(ordered it)
which interface do you have then?
and no.. you have the controller going 'in' to the software... especially with a package that expensive..
What i'm confused about is if you had one of the top end versions of das light.. why you would be looking at one of the most basic controllers...

if i'm blunt i would say you don't have daslight and you are saying it to make yourself sound 'big'
Just be honest - we don't mind helping you as long as you tell the truth instead of saying stuff to sound cool... daslight can run any sized venue you want..

i just want to take a basic controller for small venues

I don't know a lot about DMX, but that seems a bit of a strange statement to me. Surely you can programme small shows with just a few fixtures in the Daslight? And I would have thought the whole point was that you can save shows on your PC? :confused:

You can set up a load of saved scenes.. and i'm not even sure the controller you showed us does that!!!
In daslight you select the movers -> click FX -> choose a pre made movement patern -> Click generate and there is a scene right there.. easy peasy and can be changed to fit into any room.
With the controller you linked to you would sit there ALL night pushing the scrollers up and down to make them do something,
IT IS HARDER to save a load of shows on a small controller whereas on Daslight you can edit the shows slightly youve saved slightly to fit the room.. and you just select the ones you want to play.

Daslight can be used for small shows Darren, you're not wrong. I bought DasLight last week (finally decided) and used it over the weekend to run 10 Martin Roboscans, 2 Martin Destoryers, 2 Geni Spin Master I's and 54 dimmers.
It's powerful software. If you've got the Gold package, you can even transfer your saved scenes to the control box, so all you would need is a 9v adapter and your daslight box.
I'm presuming you have got Gold, if not you got ripped off, as the next model down is only worth about £250.
Edit: And thus can transfer your scenes over to your box, so actually you don't need another controller.
