I need a new light controller for my Par 56's

If they are normal Par56 then without a doubt NJD Logic 8000

Then definetely either the NJD Logic 8000 or a similar controller with dimming functions. The NJD is good because it also has a low blend between lamp changes and you can put all lamps on full brightness at the end of a function instead of having to wait for the venue to put on the house lights. (Also handy if anything kicks off during a gig)

The controller you mention isn't really suitable for using with par cans - it is designed to run with scanners etc. and so doesn't offer the scope needed with the faders for generic lighting.

If i were you I wouldn't 'recommend' items that you don't have yet.. and know nothing about.. apart from what i was telling you and going through with you on msn yesterday - when i showed you and explained to you a number of the units functions.
- how annoyed would you be if someone said that a certain item would be good for a certain job.. you spent lots of money on it.. and guess what.. it doesn't do the job?!

A DMX Master would do you, but perhaps a simpler controller would be more suitable, providing you don't want room to upgrade!

Not true, you can control up to 8 individual channels with ease at anyone time, so unless the OP has more than 8 channels on a dimmer, this desk would be just as good as any other, and would, as I said, support him if he wanted to DMX other lights.

These are also good basic choices for the Mobile DJ, however slightly bulkier than the DMX Master, I believe you can only control 12 channels with the Behringer desk. I have no experience with it though. These generic desks do not offer support for moving lights/scanners/dmx moonflowers and are for dmx dimmers only.

Sam, this is a disco forum, so I presume (unless the OP states differently) that this is to be used in a disco situation.

Anyone using more than 8 par cans (doubled up on 4 channels, or singles on 8 channels) is mad. Not only would any more floodlight a venue, but also suck a considerable amount of juice (2.4kw).

I need a new light controller for my Par 56's -> so i think we are pressuming that he wants a 'controller' instead of just a chaser..
Whilst no one mentioned needing them.. i expect it was pressumed that he would have them.
DMX is not a pain in the neck to set up once you know how to do it.. which means you have to sit down and learn how to use it correctly.

Hi your question is a bit vague but i see from other posts they are normal 56s, firstly how many do you have and what wattage are the lamps i will assume you are using 300w lamps which means you can run aprox 10 units of a 13amp supply if you want to keep it simple and have dimming x 4 channels + chase and sound to light then as mentioned the njd unit is a good choice if your budget is tight Thomann do a cheap unit Stairville DC 405B but its only 4amp per channel but that should be ok for your use.Both use Bulgin so just a iec to splitter on your stand.As Will and Sam said you can go down the DMX route small truss mounted local dimmer pack or packs which will allow you to use a more comprehensive dmx desk but a bit over the top if you are only doing disco work. I myself do a lot of stage lighting work for major UK festivals and bands and then it gets complicated but just stick to a small system that you are happy with you can always upgrade later if the need arises. hope this is of some help.
