Had a very interesting conversation last night with a potential client for a local kids disco.
Went through my usual sales pitch - what we do, PAT/ PLI,(:sofa:) CRB, equipment and backup.

Came to quote and she mentioned they were on a budget…(she had seen the advert in the YP)…alarm bells ring as I know I’m going to be too expensive……gave her the quote she thanked me then put the phone down.

MD being nosey asked me about it so I told her….she pointed out I left the travel charge on (been doing quite a few quotes out of the area..so just put the charge on)….so rang her back and apologised …..she then said that she would not require my service as I’m am more expensive than the others but did say out of the people she spoke too I sounded the most professional and helpful……….

Result…..

She may have just said that but, if you were just going to say something why your not booking someone you would just say you were to expensive………or would you??

Funny you should say that, I had a sort of similar experience, but at the other end of the transaction...

I got a feedback form from a client and whilst positive and glowing for the most part there was a comment about how some of the guests did find it difficult to talk due to my volume. I dropped her a quick email thanking her for her feedback and apologising if my volume was excessive for some of her guests as I do try and keep it at a volume that allows both dancing and talking. I went on to say that had I been asked I would have happily turned it down...

...at which point she tells me that the complaint was from only two people (out of more than 80), both of whom weren't big on dancing, anyway.
