Had a good old search through the threads about the above.. and some interesting stuff coming up.

The fact you can use it in different length configs is very appealing.. and i do need a nice big deck so the 6 foot is a big plus as well!


I'm guessing i'm going to be look at a 3 x 1 ish starcloth to go on the front.. which funnily enough is not a common dimension out there on the market...
Who knows of any companies that either do these dimensions.. or can do them to order?

And what leds... Coloured, Blue or White

I just use a plain black cloth for the fron of mine, that is the same guy I bought my truss from. I made myself a starcloth for it but due to time contraints on setting up I tend to leave it at home.

I just use a plain black cloth for the fron of mine, that is the same guy I bought my truss from. I made myself a starcloth for it but due to time contraints on setting up I tend to leave it at home.


i'd agree with that ive got a 3x2 backdrop starcloth it gets put up whenever possible .... that is when im not told everything has run over and ive got to be up and running in 20 mins.

Have you not thought about getting a bulgin t-bar?

Got all the sockets on it, just stick a few leads in, wire your dmx and off you go... easy as pie!

That's where I got my booth from. The cloths are much better than the Prolight/Zoom ones. The material is wool serge rather than the horrible shiny material that the others are made of.

Having said that, the cheaper cloths look fine in the dark.

Just a quick question about the wool serge cloths: do you get any problems with creasing?

The cheaper ones are made with a 'shabby chic' material - ie - supposed to look crinkly, but I was just wondering how you keep the creases out of the wool ones.

You have to fold and roll them correctly.

There are one or two creases, but it fits the frame so well that most are pulled out. I assume you could iron it (carefully!)

How do you find it for disco use? The advantage this poses to me is that I can have it made to fit the stand exactly.
I have noticed that the cheaper ones look very shiny and tacky in some cases.. and because i would be looking at doing background music etc. i need something that will look good in all light levels really.
We use heavy duty stuff at the theatre.. but not sure if it is too over the top for disco use?
If i remember right.. the only thing i thought about yoru star cloth.. is that there doesn't seem to be as many lights as there are on others.

The cloths from S&H are quite dear the last small one 2.5m x 1m was nearly £ 300 and was static and not many bulbs as you pointed out , i have some bigger ones 8m x 4m which we use for stage backdrops and they have been very reliable over the years they are 4 channel and work of a modified NJD 8000 on the downside they are quite heavy and pick up lots of rubbish so we have to hover them ,i also have some of the prolite ones and have made a modification to them by putting some curtain weights in the bottom so they hang better.Theres also some different size ones at Squire sound & light tel 0121 5206191.

Hi dont think they have but have a email address [email protected] they could send you a catalouge i see they do a 3mx1m for £74.99 BLUE 60 LEDS and the controller is £35.00 which even has DMX +3 other modes
