C&B or F&B managers

Just for a change, I had a really switched on C&B manager when I worked in a Hotel in Newbury on Friday.

She could see me sweating setting up, so asked if I would like the air con on.

The wedding over ran, but instead of rushing me, she asked me what time I would like to announce the first dance.

She also let me arrange the timings with the B&G instead of rushing everything, and then offered to put the buffet back for 30 mins, so I could have slightly more time trying to get the dancers up.

When she did come and tell me the buffet was ready, she told me not to announce it for another 10-15 minutes as I had a floor full.

It's really nice when people are on your wavelength. :cool:

Nice to hear Darren: if everyone involved works together rather than each 'fighting' the other, then everyone wins.... especially the B&G!

...Shame that all 'professionals' don't work the same way and expect everyone else to fit around them!!!

I love it when managers are like that... work with you rather than against you,

nearly all the weddings that i have done have over ran and you always get the manager "is 30 minutes ok for you" and you have a big rig to get in so you start to work your socks off to get it in.

well as always i will act mr. sensible yes it is easier when the managers feel your pain so to speak and as everyone i have felt both ends of this stick ......once being told i had 20 minutes to bring all my gear up a servive lift well more of a dumb waitor and get set up as they WERE getting guests in on time

but then once i was in Derby and the managers fella was also a dj so she just said I know full well how long it takes they will just have to wait ... didnt rush me at all and even made me sit down and drink a cup of coffee before she would allow the guests in, I think it takes alot of pressure off the whole event if you have a good calm organised manager.
