looking at getting a sub or 2 but at the moment can only afford the one. would just having the one sub added to my db basic 400 add more sound to what i got or is it not worth just using the one sub.

the DB Sub 15 would be enough but this has been covered before.

Davey, now that I see your post I've just realised that I'd should have PM'd you a while back.
Apologies.
I got a peavey pro sub and it's really helped my db 400s but I would like a crossover to split the signals but definitely the sub was a great investment!

db is a well respected make, i have no doubt at all that the db sub will improve the sound quality of your rig, you also be able to filter your tops as well so the sub does all of the hard work.

the sub has left and right xlr inputs and outputs. so just plug your mixer straignt in to the sub and your tops in to the sub and just set the crossover to about 120hz and everything will sound so much better.

i have a carlsbro gamma 600w powered sub to go with my jbl eon 15g2 ( soon to be rcf 310a ) not a bad sun i might get another

I use a db sub 15 with 2 mackie tops and the bass is amazing. Well worth the money and their customer support is very good.

It is worth getting one sub, yes. Bass is mono-directional, so in effect, 2 subs simply combine to make a bigger sound, and you will not notice any stereo effects.

I use a peavey prosub-P (active version) with a pair of pro-15s (passive) in all but the very largest venues (and I mean largest). I only need to 'beef up' with additional speakers for outdoor events and huge marquees.

Prosub-P can be had for around £240 or for about £170 passive. I stick mine in the centre of the stage under my deckstand.

I know there are a few folks on the board would recommend that config for a 'top end of "budget"' configuration. I'm always getting comments about the clarity of my audio rig. (good ones!)
